JaKarr Sampson

How many years have to go by without blaming Norm for everything. It is true Norm was so worried about his job that last years team was loaded w seniors, But maybe Lavin should have not asked players to transfer. Lavin wanted to start w a fresh slate and has his 3 year plan.

I agree. I got the feeling early on that Steve didn't have a great grasp on the players he inherited. Starting the two Maliks early on was one red flag and sitting a gamer like Evans was another. Then, kissing off the Roberts kids just added to my concern. I was also following the PG situation closely and scratching my head about what I knew about Lindsey. That was before Phil Greene saved the day. Of course all these concerns among others seem to be fading and Jakarr has reintroduced hope to the program. That's really all I ask. A fighting chance for SJU to regain some of it's past esteem. Can't wait to hear the next name to join the fold.

Marco Baldi - I think he sitll has a year of eligibility ;)
certainly could use his size

what a great video Jakarrjust posted on you tube!!

Nice video clip. It's great to have him back... I hope Moe returns for one more to make a run next year.

I don't believe this was ever shown on the board.... Sampson's highlights around the 1:16 mark. A couple of his plays came against a heckuva shotblocker (and #1 player in the 2012 class) in Nerlens Noel.

it will be another fun and exciting year in Queens next year.

sidenote - if #3 is Noels either Samson and his teammates are that good or I am not really impressed with Noels defensive prowess. I realize this shows the Brewster highlights but there were quite a few going up, around or moving Nerlens around to have their way. That must have been one awesome game to be at.

Bridgeton is that good. Jakarr and two 5 star recruits up front. They could be the starting frontcourt for just about any college in the country.

Noel is #3. He's quite impressive on the defensive end. I've seen him in person (the last two years at the Peach Jam) and on televison. Sampson is long; can jump; and gets off the floor rather quickly, so it didn't particularly surprise me what Sampson was doing.

I also read from Noel's AAU coach (in the NYT article), longtime BABC guy, Leo Papile mentioning something about Noel not playing well during the latter part of the season. I guess he had too much going on to remain focused. Nevertheless, he's a heckuva talent. I'd certainly take him for one season.

cant wait to get a steady diet of jakarr to watch. I have heard comparisons between noel and anthony davis. Anoyone agree w that compare?

No. You just picked arguably the 2 best defensive prospects in the last 20 years. Davis is a freak in his own league.

Never heard those two at all.

Davis much better tha Noel IMO. Davis was a guard not long ago. He has well rounded game and is amazing at both ends. Not close IMO.

Nope, everyone was questioning Noel in the video so I was curious on the comparison to AD. I figured I was off point by your response.

Noel and Davis are definitely similar.
Sorry I was responding thinking you were asking about Jakarr compared to them

Davis is much, much better than Noel.

Jakkar is so different from both of those guys, it's tough to even compare. Sampson is a 3/4 and they are both 4/5s...but in college both are straight 5s.

 From a slam magazine blog:

"-Committed to St. John’s for 2011, de-committed to St. John’s, now re-committed as a member of the class of 2012, JaKarr Sampson set it off with a couple of monstrous slams.  Guy has straight bunnies and is continuing to develop his face-up game.  Potential wise, there aren’t many better in this game."
