JaKarr Sampson

 Welcome back Karr!
My negative Karma worked!
Apologies to all my fellow redmen who I annoyed but it was a psych thing for me! I am very happy for Lav, more than anyone can imagine!!

You can't backtrack that easily from the ridiculous offense comments you posted about jakarr

yeah, it has been a tiring last 4 months with these "fans" downing and doubting coach, the program and the possible recruits....Lav has never lied to us, and if he said he was going to bring in a stellar class he was going to come through...All the negativity we've had to deal with for no reason...and can't wait for some more names to start falling into place. Go STJ

You guys are such clowns. Why can't you just enjoy the good news without insulting posters who don't share all of your views? This is terrific news and we're all excited. It's one recruit and there is a lot of work to be done, but let's all share in the enjoyment together.

haha, that's too funny...we're the clowns because we are holding you people accountable for all the negativity you bring to the board when it's not even warranted?? my view has always been to wait and see what happens, you guys think your Nostradamus, and know that Moe will leave, Lavin is retiring, no recruits will sign etc... I am happy because I had confidence in Lav the whole time, however people aren't just going to let go of the garbage you and a few others have been spewing for months

"Holding people accountable for their negativity?" Who are you -- Chief of the Redmen Gestapo?

The only person bringing negativity today is you and your two brothers Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum who apparently care more about attacking those who have expressed concern than enjoying the good news.

I am not going to respond to you clowns anymore today and am going to revel in the good news of Sampson re-committing. It's one recruit and we have a heck of a long way to go, but it is wonderful news nonetheless.

Some idiots even say negative things about the recruits because they are taking the time to make a very important decision about their future. That is totally uncalled for.

Btw, I have a strong feeling that if Pelle qualifies, he might come too. Just a hunch.

I had a feeling we were going to get news yersterday, although had no idea what the news would be. I probably checked this site every 45 min. Then at 10.30 I said to myself , to late for any news and stopped checking, missing the great news yesterday. WELCOME BACK. The future looks good for SJU. I also believe the question isnt; Is Sampson going to make the NBA?. But when will he join the NBA?

Richard Steinfeld -

I just heard the story on WFAN - I trust in Coach Lavin and all he has done - as many others - he has given us NO reason to doubt - he won't have a perfect recruiting or W-L record, we will have are downs, transfers all part of the process, but more than are share of happy moments; he's gradually bringing us to the big time - but some on this site and in life generally will always take the negative, distrustful style, impatient, lacking imo perspective (all their perogative of course - perhaps even naming their chosen style "realistic") even in regard to the best in the field - good for Lavin, for SJU and for us!

all the best

This was the most important recruit we could have gotten this class and it all worked out great.
Thank you Coach Lavin for your unwavering dedication on the recruiting front.
3 down dare we say 3 to go.

What story on WFAN?

Mike F. mentioned it to Minko and then Mike went into showing how little he knows or even keeps up with St. Johns Basketball. He said "he wonders if this will keep Lavin at St. Johns because he is hearing rumors that Lavin is considering leaving. He said Lavin should address these rumors if not true, Of course Lavin has spoken to this 10 times, Francessa is a discrace!

hopefully 1 and done.....

We win it all and he goes pro with nothing left to prove :)

Of course Id prefer him to stay the whole time, but if they win no chance he stays.

If Moe comes back and we add a big man and a shooter, who knows ;)

Branch/D'Lo running pick and roll with Moe could be unstoppable at the college level.

Welcome back Jakarr. Now, hopefully Harkless stays and we can get another big man to help fill out our roster. I really am looking forward to see what else Coach Lavin has in mind for next season.

Yes. Let's not overlook Green who gave us a terrific year, diligent effort and improved skills as the season unfolded.

Today's story: Mike F. and John Minko actually discussing the re-emergence of Jakarr Sampson to the program. Of course Big Mike not very conversant with SJU or college recruiting as he frequently reminds listeners.

all the best - a good day and good times ahead. ;)

PS can't we get on a better radio station with improved announcers??? Oh well.

Sampson's most recent video....

Unquestionably a future Pro IMO.

This is *GREAT* news.

Have not read everything and no offense intended- but may I assume is he a decent, "good-character type kid"? I hope so. And I'd rather have a good top 100 student-athlete than a not-so-good top 50 talent. I'm looking to be informed here.

thanks.

He's a good kid from what I've gathered.

Thanks. I was also thinking - again tough to avoid appearance of offending someone - but in my mind comparing, e.g. Malik Sealy versus Ron Artest; Felipe Lopez versus Jayson Williams. The program has enough legitimate draw now that we can afford to steer clear of a player just because of immense basketball talent. I like Lavin and trust him so would believe that his antennae are focusing on more than just on court skills etc.

all the best

 In Lavin I Trust !!!!!!

thanks Otis
and some of us have trusted all along - Lavin has not given us a single reason not to trust his skills, magnetism and his solemn word - he will lose some recruits and some games but we will get our share and we will be back where we want to be, relevant, competitive, desirable….

like most so tired of other Catholic, small, noon-football schools cleaning up (do I see Gonzaga on TV right now taking it to WVU etc.) and SJu drifting by the proverbial wayside, way-wayside.Out of the way side.

Hey, out of the way UConn, Syracuse, other big time "superior programs...

We are a very fortunate fan base, the Dark and Middle Ages have passed along, finally.

all the best

Yukon and the University of Syracuse have a question mark over their respective futures as Messres. Calhoun and Boeheim contemplate retirement.
