It's just a game.

Well, college b’ball isn’t exactly Little League. It’s is a hybrid between the amateur players and being a big business for the schools and the coaches. And for the fans who pay top dollar to attend the games I think part of the entertainment value for that ticket price is being able to critique the performance—no matter how off base we may be!

Lavin’s a big boy. He and his peers understand that when things go off the rails, it could get ugly for them. It’s the business they’ve chosen.

If you were a recruit and followed the fan sites of teams you are considering, what would you think of the "Fire Lavin" thread?

Beast you really think these kids care about what a group of anonymous posters/disgruntled fans are saying on some web-site? They're listening to their parents, coaches, handlers and friends. They form their opinions based on them, not us.

I do think that kids get excited about a program where fans pack the gym, scream all game, and support the program to the Nth degree. Reading this site, which I am sure prospects would do, what would your impression be?

If I were the parent of a recruit, I would tell him that the fans are expressing their frustration with the team and coach because of the past 10+ years and because of the perception(rightfully or not) that this team as underachieving so far this year. I would also tell him that the fan base is passionate or they wouldn't be posting anything. If I were a parent/handler/coach I wouldn't give a damn about what is posted on here and I would tell the recruit that he shouldn't either. But maybe that's just me.

I know for a fact that players do read the boards but in general they find stuff that is said to be funny because they know none of us actually know anything about basketball or what's happening with the team and they think we're all idiots, which is a fairly accurate assessment. I'm sure recruits and their families read too but the thing is every big school has boards like this and many of them, especially the bigger schools, have far more moronic posters than we do.

Which players read the boards? How do you know for a fact....do you have proof? Or is it all he said - she said?

I know for a fact members of the 2011 team read the boards. I don't know any members of the current team so I can't say for sure if they do.

I remember that year reading or hearing their quotes maybe after a game they won, and saying wait I said that exactly same thing on this board and it gave me a smile. Maybe it was a coincidence, I have no idea but just saying.
