Isaiah Briscoe, PG

I don't think that NYC does not have any allure. If the school was academically stronger and in Manhattan or with a nicer campus full of modern dorms, I think we would be in a better recruiting position. That is why I think Villanova and Georgetown will continue to field competitive teams at least in the near future. Lavin was extremely successful landing some great early recruits using his UCLA and ESPN experience and if we had won, I think things might be different but we didn't. I hope he has a trick or two still up his sleeve but as it stands now, next years team could be very weak.

Enough of this. So tiring that every thread gets hijacked. Non IB posts will be deleted. Please keep it on topic.

You know what, I respect the amount of time and effort you guys put into monitoring the boards. I did it for a very short time and couldn't handle it. But why don't the moderators just put out a list of topics that are allowable. I think since Lavin himself pointed to the importance of this recruiting class to the program, the subject of how the failure to garner those recruits affects Lavin's status is a very fair and pertinent topic. And since Briscoe seemed the recruit most likely to attend SJU, I think discussing such in this thread is allso appropriate.Obviously you and other moderators disagree and so be it.
Otis, Dinkins and other seemingly favored posters post what they want when they want and the double standard appears rather obvious to me. Maybe it is just me but..................

So what all goes in to monitoring the boards? I'm not trying to be a jerk....it just doesn't seem all that complicated to me...

1) He did not say topics were not allowed. He said not to hijack threads. The issue is of readability and consideration for the community, not for monitoring opinions.
2) Among other things what goes into it are the endless attacks on how the site is moderated - typically hijacking a thread in the process - and more often than you think, a response like this where a moderator specifically says not to hijack the thread but is responded by further hijacking.
3) In two decades of dealing with all kinds of trolls and trouble makers, I've only resorted to (private) profanity to one - MJDinkins. Contrast this to say JohnnyFan who has been previously banned for breaking the rules agreed to and yet at every opportunity continues to throw jabs at the moderators/site and feign victim status. I've even taken time to help him with technical issues on the site. But yeah it is a matter of all of these "favored" members. What a crock. Otis get harangued by the moderators (privately) than anyone else. In fact I've done so recently several times including last evening, though hopefully he understands it in good fun. What I did not do however is clutter the boards/threads with my personal attacks.
