Is an SJU season ticket worth it?

Just got my renewal notice in the mail today. The Mrs and I are discussing whether this is a good use of $1265.00. That's $625 per ticket for two tickets plus a $15 service charge. Service charge? :-o

In terms of service charge, I'll keep my thoughts to myself. Something about paying to get ______ed.

To cover the cost of making those cheap plastic seats at CA smaller.

On the face of it? No.

However, my father (whose name the seats are in) and myself both like our seat locations a lot, so we will be coming back.

Thanks, Paul. I thought it was my butt getting bigger! ;-). LOL!

For me, it's likely going to be like staying with a bad stock too long. I'm likely in, but only spend time with my kids at games.

I've been a season ticket holder for 35 years and brought my 3 sons to the games from the time they could walk. They've grown up and moved on but still come to an occasional game with me. Now I mostly bring friends. For years I sat with the same people around me but one by one they gave up their season tickets during the Norm Years. I don't like paying full price and seeing others get better seats for less money but I've been doing this for so long and have an allegiance to the team ( yes, I'm also a Mets fan) and can't give up. So I'll be renewing again this year for my 36th year, hoping they get the ship righted and play some " Meaningful Games" in March. Ya Gotta Believe!

I've had seats since the 77-78 season - originally they were booster club seats behind the SJU bench. I'm not as optimistic as others are here as far as NCAA tourney chances since we've brought in mostly role players, and I don't believe that Obekpa, Harrison, Pointer, and Greene are tournament caliber players. I don't see radical improvement from any of them either. Unless Jordan has a breakout sophomore campaign and delivers in crunch time, I see more of the same for this campaign. If that happens, we will likely be looking for a new coach next spring.

I'm in the same boat. After more than three decades I've always felt they would go deep into the tourney the year I finally give up the ghost. Fortunately we've gotten heavily into gambling busses of late and if can justify that stupidity basketball tickets are no sweat. When the money runs out who knows. Looking forward to at least a competitive season and a new coach if it doesn't happen.

Didn't get my renewal request yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

I haven't either.

I think they went out Thursday or Friday, so if you didn't get them by Saturday, we probably will tomorrow (Wed. the latest).

Still waiting for mine. I had them since I graduated before I dropped them around the end of the Roberts tenure for numerous reasons. Picked them up again when Lavin was hired. Not sure if I'll renew this year and just buy individual games at MSG or an MSG package.

I will say this about the new season ticket renewals. I'm intrigued by what the letter says is going to be the option of printing our tickets at home and electronically forwarding them to someone else. If this works as they say it should, I think it will be a huge benefit for season ticket holders.

That's a step forward TIF. We both know how frustrating it is when you find out you can't go and there's not enough time to transfer the tickets to someone who can. Let's see if it works.

Yeah a lot of times when I cant go I find out last minute. Hopefully they dont charge a transfer fee because I would love to give them away to fans who need them on the message boards if I cant use them.

I renewed for another year. I agree if the letter makes it as easy as it sounds, its a huge plus for the season ticket holder. I chose the print at home option.

I hope they don't allow student $99 passes to do the same, which would facilitate selling them on stubhub to opposing fans at a profit. Student tickets should be transferable only to an SJU student. There are few enough student season tickets to create a mechanism to only allow students to use them. Other schools have these mechanisms in place

I received the package sometime last week and have yet to open it. I really don't know if I am going to renew. I guess I should open it to see when I need to make my decision by.
