April 21st ...Rick Pitino:

"We had big shoes to fill at the point [guard position]," said 2024-25 National Coach of the Year Rick Pitino. "Kadary [Richmond] and Deivon [Smith] were awesome. The ball is now in the hands of our next great point [guard]. Let's go Ian!"
This is the thing that is literally in my head every team I watch this team. I called it out at the time. It was literally one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

And we passed on Silas for this! Fucking nonsense.

Pretty wild in hindsight

Hopkins seems to miss a lot of chippies and/or a lot of his shots seems to go in and out lol Also he's a a really strong, slithery driver. He should do it more often and no threes. He's really good from 18 feet in.

Hopkins is great. I’m the biggest anti-Pitino guy on the board and even I can’t argue with his strategy of pulling a dump truck load of cash up to former Big East Player of the Year’s house.

between him and Zuby we will get our wins, but we are going to struggle replicating last years ‘success’ even in a way down big east.

Jackson at least competes on defense. There was a couple times tonight where I was mildly impressed with how he was moving his feet to stay in front of his man.

Sanon ball watches all the time and doesn’t know where to be at crucial times. He had 5 points in the first two minutes and then 2 the rest of the game. His shot selection is bad and he missed that wide open layup somehow. Rick has his work cut out for him and if he doesn’t turn it around quick his minutes will continue to decline

I do think Lee/Boogie is a toxic combination. Would be much better with a pure shooter next to either one.
Not for nothing, but when Pops Isaacs jumped in the portal did we give him a look. I remember last year posting, let’s get another big east guy. I think one of the boards sharps told me he was always destined for A&M but I can’t remember to save my life.

You lost me at starting Ian.

How about he figures out how to play basketball first. It's sweet that he can drive to the rim and hit the 3 here and there.

He just need to become remotely competent at the other 90% of playing the game outside the schoolyard
Getting yo yo’d
Tough to play that way

Yeah I was barely dissing Darling. He can play at this level for 15-20 minutes. It is *insane* we have one point guard who can organize the offense. And its his physical & defensive limitations that keep him at 15-20 minutes.
To invest as much money as they have in this roster and not invest in the most important position in college basketball is a total dereliction of responsibility by Rick and staff.

We were two years ago, not this year
