Iona over the Hall

 Can't believe Iona made it over the Hall. Resume was not as strong. Lost to Purdue. Weaker schedule and league. Unusual at large bid. but good for Cluess. Loyala Md out right away from MAC. Will Iona win play in.
 
well neither played well down stretch. But bad loss by Iona to Hofstra. Also they don;t have near the quality win as Seton Hall has against Georgetown

Am I missing something? Iona was 10-2 their last 12 games, SH was 5-7.

Iona's RPI was 41.

Also, they have the top assist guy in D-1 - Machado and his 9.9 per game. Star power DOES help.

Seton Hall was not tournament material. They were below five hundred in the conference. they lost ten of their last fifteen games and when they had a chance to enhance their resume, they lost to Rutgers and got blown out by Depaul. Iona was one of a bunch of teams that were more deserving than Seton Hall. I think only Joe Lunardi and Kevin Willard thought Seton Hall belonged in the tournament.

When you get down to the last few teams it is a crapshoot. Kind of like a college application, there are so many criteria the committee can use any one of them to justify each decision. I thought at the end of the day the Hall should have been in but they have no one to blame but themselves for sitting on the bubble; they certainly did not play themselves in when they had the chance.

It is Rudy Wright taken at the Nassau Coliseum in the ECAC playoffs 1979. Great old Western/ American Indian influenced uniforms at the time.
 
The committee holds RPI in high regard, but also how hot a team is in the closing weeks.

Compare those two factors between Iona and Seton Hall, and you get the reason why Iona is in.

I think it's good for college basketball and have no problem with the smaller conferences getting more of a chance to dance.

Of course I would probably be outraged if we were sitting in Seton Hall's shoes right now.

But from a neutral point of view, I think Iona deserved it more.

Nothing for the Hall to be outraged about.
They controlled their own destiny and blew it badly.
Disappointed yes, but certainly not outraged. 
 
 willard sounded like a baby in the recent zags article. I have no respect for him. I hope they rot in the bottom of the be as long as he is the coach which will happen now that the canary island boys won't he hidden by gonzos recruits

At the half it is Iona over BYU by 15
But that understates their dominance for the first 20 minutes
 
 Iona scored more points this half than Seton Hall would have scored this game. On fire. Hope they can keep it up the 2nd half
 
Seton Hall finished off the season 1-4. Lost to some questionable teams, and got spanked in the process.

How can anyone think they were a Tournament team?
