In Season Tidbits

Probably because it's pronounced Coburn?
and why do you think it is pronounced that way? Like having the name Shit and pronouncing it Shitte. :p :eek:hmy:
He's probably told announcers that is way it's pronounced.

I found this piece interesting.... https://www.huffingtonpost.com...-cockburn-and-its-a-wee-bit-funny_a_21655429/

Cockburn's Vintage Sherry used to regularly ads run TV ads a few years back, and the British-sounding voice-over clearly -- and repeatedly -- pronounced it as Coburn ... no doubt in an effort to sound posh, and, more importantly, I assumed, to drill this pronounciation into viewers' heads so they wouldn't feel self-conscious asking their bartender or spirits salesman for some Coburn, not Cockburn.

I think it's been mentioned that his recruitment was fishy. If so, it wasn't happening under most of our coaches.
As has been mentioned before, Illinois seems to now be in the pay for play business. That's why they weren't even listed as in play for Cockburn and he suddenly commited after a last-minute visit. Doubt it impacts us in this case, since I believe at the time everyone thought he was a lock for UConn anyway.

I unfortunately think he's going to come out too early, and then just be another journeyman big. But he would have been damn fun to have here for a year.

I'm hoping that top New Yorkers give us more of a real look now that we seem to have finally lucked into the right hire.

Hilarious. His employee ID and the nickname "Cocky-B", a classic.

Anybody in particular you know of that we are recruiting here? I’m guessing 21-22 kids?

Have never seen them play but college scouts I have talked to are impressed to the man with the way they play together. 23 assists on 30 field goals, 5 guys with between 10-15 shots, 4 players in double figures and another with nine certainly would seem to prove that out.

Looks like our two guys also outplayed two guys who we were recruiting from Huntington Prep.

Does OSL play in states anymore? I used to remember them long ago playing LuHi for the right to advance, but I don't think they do anymore. That would be a hell of a playoff game.

Dorman High, outta Spartanburg, SC, spanked Huntington Prep at the Bojangles' Bash in my area (Ridge View High) a few days ago. Dorman has won 3 straight 5-A championships (highest classification in the state), and have two major D-1 commits in PJ Hall (Clemson) and Myles Tate (Butler).
