Hurley Brothers

Bobby's Buffalo team fun to watch. Up 8 with 2:06 left on MAC Championship game. Could have both Albany and Buffalo in big dance. Nice showing for SUNYs

Danny's Rhode Island team played well today against Dayton. Both teams, Buffalo and Rhode Island are very disciplined well coached teams.

Schools are going to come knocking for Hurley and he will leave. He is currently making less than $400K.

he looks like he's going to be on the fast track

Rutgers will be the first to call. Seton Hall would if they could.
For those concerned about Lavin's salary consider they could hire Danny, Bobby and daddy for less than Lavin's salary but I have always felt an anti STJ attitude from the Hurley brothers.
Btw, the title of this thread would make a great name for a cough drop. Cough, cough.

If the answer to the question doesn't concern money, then rephrase the question. It doesn't matter what their past feelings about STJ were or are, if you offer them the right amount of money they will come. The job and conference are a step up for Danny and two maybe three steps up for Bobby.

While I do believe that either Hurley brother would be a big upgrade over Jordan, I don't see Rutgers making a move anytime soon. He is a Rutgers legend and is held in very high regard. Add to that the fact that he is cleaning up a huge mess that Rice left behind.

I think that, for those reasons, he will be given more time to try to turn it around at Rutgers than a coach would typically be given. Having said that, I do not believe that Jordan is the long term answer at Rutgers. But, I think both Hurley brothers will have secured new jobs by the time Rutgers pulls the plug on Jordan.

Bobby would be a great hire. He is my first choice if we give Lavin the boot.

Archie Miller first, Then Danny Hurley (because he has coached at a higher level) then Bobby. But, I would take Bobby in heartbeat if it came to that.

Lavin was a much better point guard than either Hurley brother ever was which is why he knows the game so much better and is a much better coach than either one of them could ever hope to be! I await a thank-you from frank61.

The rumor on the Rutger's board at the time of the Jordan hire was that Danny Hurley was offered a lucrative package, but Danny Hurley would not take the job with out a 7 year contract with a larger by out. FWIW, the rumor was 7 years 12MM

If this is true Danny Hurley is a realist, it would certainly take that amount of time to get Rutger's competitive in the Big 10.

Disagee, Rutgers is never going to be competitive in the Big 10, barring a truly marquee hire. Danny was just ensuring his financial security.

Sounds like Fast Eddie is sort of the Norm Roberts of Rutgers, except for the fact that Norm was not a legend around here before he was hired.

Bobby always struck me as way sharper than Danny, going back to their college playing days. I know Danny has more experience, but I would take Bobby first.

Sorry, I meant 'competitive' for Rutgers.

That's fine. You're forgiven. Is this handle Darren's RedStormRising? If so hope you're well.
