how many scholarships left?

Also Stewart and Henderson came from California and were expecting to be on schlorship the following year.

Henderson is from Florida.

Feel bad for the kids since they both seem like they want to be here, but may be getting caught in a numbers game.

I can't envision any scenario where Jones is here next season. Think Barnes-Thompkins is also gone in favor of a legit PG. I can see an immediately eligible transfer at that position coming in. Not even one with necessarily good numbers, but one who at least was a full-time PG growing up.

Wouldn't be too sure SBT will be part of the program.

Was thinking the same

Why not? If he's a guard and can score a little bit off the bench we need him more than a guy like Jones or JDR. If we are bringing in better guards I get it but it's going to be tough this late to find scorers. I'd like to keep Samir and SBT to see what they can do. Hopefully as backups to Sampson.

If Samir is eligible he's 100 percent wanted by the staff. Just think Barnes-Thompkins doesn't provide enough off what we need regarding backup PG.

What happened to David Lipscomb, Samuel Harris IV and Olisa Nwachie? They are all listed on SJU official website as on the roster for this past year.

They are walk-ons, not going to get schollies.

Thanks. They really should state who is scholarship and who is not on the official roster.

Why, if they are on the team they are on the team regardless of scholarship or not.

Because it would make Sean's life a lot easier if he didn't have to remember who was a walk on and who had a scholarship on what we can only assume is his favorite college basketball team. Just kidding Sean, kind of.

For some reason I thought Lavin gave Lipscomb a scholarship this past year even though he was originally a walk-on, am I dreaming this up?

Ndiaye got the scholly

....don't be surprised if one or more of the seldom used players expected to return, don't return for the coming year.

It's my guess that at least one (maybe two) of these players will not be on scholarship next year:

Doughty
Barnes-Thompkins
Jones

Personally, I am not sold on Doughty being ready to contribute during the conference portion of the schedule next year. Would like to see a transfer guard with a good handle.

Doughty would be our 2nd or 3rd (at worst) scoring option and probably a starter based on today's roster makeup. We need to keep him and add more scorers in the worst way.

You're right, we do still need more scoring for next year. I am just not blown away by Doughty.

I think, all said and done, we will have better.

So now we have this All-Star recruiting team and they filled a bunch of holes in the roster. Great! Uh-oh...For the 2016-17 year, which is effectively next year's recruiting season, we have only three scholarships available, and that assumes we don't use another one this year.

Sounds like Chris will be doing some roster 'management', otherwise the All-Star recruiting team will be sitting around doing nothing.

@ Steve - The priority was to get a team on the floor for next year. They have done that for the most part, with maybe (hopefully) at least 1, maybe 2 more) good additions. And, they have one guy that will sit out a year and be eligible for next year. The roster will balance out, and next year's will be more balanced than this year's. There will be more to do for next year, and they should be starting on 2017 as well. A lot to do.

Coach Mullin (yep, the name "Coach Mullin" has a good ring to it) is playing the hand that was dealt to him.

It will take Coach Mullin and his hard working staff a recruiting cycle or so to improve the situation that he inherited.
