Assuming Jordan and Obekpa stay and Sampson and Diallo commit to us, how many scholarships are left ?
 
One scholarship remaining according to JJ

Next year's roster:

Jordan
Doughty
Thompkins
Balamou
Williams
Jones
Alibegovic
Obekpa
DeLa Rosa (A)
DeLa Rosa (J)
Owens
Sima

Walk-ons Stewart & Henderson

We could use a point guard with three point skills or a small forward with same.

Is Joey still here or not? Some confusion on that.
 
Keeping Sampson gives us a nice starting five and a good launching point for next year. Diallo would be nice but we can continue building without him. Some unknowns on the rest of the roster, so hopefully the bench can be improved a little before next season. Mullin and staff doing a great job!
 
if the McD's All-American MVP wants in, you find room for him. Don't foresee that being an issue
 
There will be room for both Sampson and Diallo. Remember, JDR was not on scholarship last year.

Owens won't be eligible next year as he has to sit out as a transfer however he still will be on scholarship and that counts against the maximum 13 schollies.
 
I have a feeling you will see one or two transfers.

Also Stewart and Henderson came from California and were expecting to be on schlorship the following year. They might choose to leave as well.

I could see Jones or doughty or barnes thompkins leaving if sampson commits.

I am not sure where Jones could transfer to and get much playing time in Division 1.

Jones should look at Div 3 schools if he wants to get minutes.

Joey was and will remain a walkon if he stays another year. That chart on JJ is inaccurate.

Owens* (has to sit out, but counts towards scholarships)

Doubt they get Diallo. If they can bring Sampson back I think they make tourney next year

Gotta read up the twitter chain; referring to Craig Randall being offered by VCU.
 
It comes off as a dick thing to do but I wouldn't mind paring down this roster. We had a bench that consisted basically of Jamal Branch last year. 1 BE caliber player on the bench and hes gone. I think of the remaining guys, one or two can contribute down the road. Unfortunately the name that comes to mind for me is Christian Jones in terms of letting them go. Wouldn't mind seeing another scholarship open for the Mussini's or Papagiannis' of the world!
 
No inside info, but scholarships are not going to be a problem. However many new guys the staff wants to add, that is how many scholarships will likely become available.
