Homeland And All Things Maher

I am a little younger so I grew up in that Apatow/Rogen era of studio comedies. With that said, the funniest comedy of all time (In my opinion) is a film called This is The End.

It one of those movies where it works best if you know the reputations behind all the actors in it, it is just freaking hilarious. No one has ever been funnier in a movie than Danny McBride is in This is The End.

That movie was a blast. Emma Watson was the best!

And Michael Cera. Too funny.

I e never heard of it but now I’m definitely going to watch it

Gotta go back and rewatch it, and Young Frankenstein while you're at it. Mel Brooks was a genius.

Those paypal commercials of his are so annoying. The kid on the plane who tells him "who cares" is right on it.
Young Frankenstein is my dad’s favorite movie. That and Cuckoo’s Nest. YF is hilarious and…Teri Garr…sigh, rip.

His intro scene when he walks into James Franco’s house and wastes all their supplies while Cypress Hill is playing is the funniest part of that movie.

One of the most quotable (and hilarious) movies of all-time for sure.

“Mr Dorfman!”
Helloooo
“.25. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”

“Take it easy I’m pre-law”
“I thought you were pre-med?”
What’s the difference?

“He can’t treat our pledges like that.”
Yeah, only WE can.

“I want you to fix Pinto up but we’re willing to trade some good looks for a, certain, morally casual attitude.”

😂😂 could go on and on. Actually told our DJ before our wedding. If you feel the need to put on some kind of dumb dance-a-long song on, just play a song from the Animal House soundtrack. Then again we came out to My Name is Jonas by Weezer, our wedding video starts with Cocoon by Bjork and our song is Everlong by the Foo Fighters.
Otter: reading the Emily Dickinson College student newspaper: "Sophomore dies in kiln explosion". {Fawn Lieberwitz}

Otter to fawn's roommate: "Fawn used to touch me that way", "I know she told me"!

Blutarsy: "They took the bar, they took the whole fucking bar"

Dean Wormer to Greg Marmalard: "Put Neidermeyer on it too: he's a sneaky little shit"

Mandy Pepperridge to Blutarsky: "You boys are P. I. G. S."!
Blutarsky: "And now what am I? A ZIT!"

Otter: if you suspend our fraternity for taking a few liberties with our female guests, aren't you chastising the American educational system as a whole, and if you do that aren't you then indicting the entire American Society, and I for one will not stand by while you attack the United States of America!"

Blutarsky: When the going gets tough the tough gets going, what did America do when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor? Boone to Otter: wasn't it the Japanese?, Otter: don't stop him he's on a roll.

last: DO YOU MIND IF WE DANCE WITH YOUR DATES?

Funniest movie there is (this is in my opinion of course)…
1) Naked Gun
2) Airplane
3) Dumb and Dumber
4) Animal House
5) either Ace Ventura or Slap Shot

Have to mention the Burbs too. That doesn’t get the recognition it deserves and Bruce Dern is friggin hilarious. Everything he does in that movie is hilarious. Early Jim Carrey is hard to beat though. Love Spaceballs, too. The Broken Lizard movies are amazing too, just pure laughs.
Dating myself for sure but three of my favorite comedies all of which I've watched multiple times:

My Cousin Vinnie
Monty Python & the Holy Grail
Take the Money & Run

The best part of the kiln explosion line is that he tells the roommate, “and she told me she was gonna make me a pot.” 😂
That movie doesn’t miss at all.

Watched all four episodes of Adolescence on Netflix last night. An absolutely devastating series. Excellent acting all around and the young boy who plays the main protagonist deserves every nomination that is coming his way. Definitely not a comedy

So BrookJersey Redmen’s post about Eva Cassidy triggered this for me, legendary San Diego rock and rollers that just never made it big nationally. I had the pleasure of seeing them in Southern California in the 80s and they were a unique very tight rocking bar band.

just re-listened to this, those guys are great, my kind of music, The Beat Farmers

Started a new detective series set in Scotland (I think) only one episode in but like the writing and acting, it's called Department Q, so far it is on I'd Recommend List. But kinda of dark which I can work with if it is well done.

No Slow Horses however, I think that is back later this year maybe, Gary Oldman is fantastic.

Sorry Jackfro, I didn't see your post already....

Try sipping on a Single Malt while you watch the next episode. The series will improve dramatically. ;)

As the books go on their his more humor but the first book, The Keeper of Lost Causes, which the first series is based on is more about setting the tone and introducing the characters. So far aeter the first two wpisodes it seems to be following the book but it has been a number of years since I read it. there are about ten books in the series. Besides the change in the location the one major change is the name of the Syrian character. In the books his name is Asad not Akram. Probably because when the books were written there was no President Asad in Syria!

"Friends and Neighbors" on AppleTV with John Hamm is at times a delicious takedown of vacuous upper-society d-bags. At other times, it's raunchy and boring. But all of the time, there's not one character to whom I feel any sympathy for or allegiance with.

"Sirens" on Netflix with Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon is kinda on the same wavelength regarding upper-crust d-bags. My wife started watching and hooked me in. There are some very good lol moments between the help and those they help.

I still can't sing the praises of "Andor" enough. I can't believe this story and these characters exist in the same universe as Jar Jar Binks. I'm recommending it to those who are not sci-fi or Star Wars fans but who love WWII resistance stories and Cold War spy novels in the John le Carre mold.
