G'Town game

Hey Joe

Apparently you haven't noticed but Lavin and his $taff have not done much recruiting during the past several months.

Lavin recruited just one recruits during the 2013 cycle and has recruited zero recruits during the current 2014 cycle despite the fact that St.John's graduates 3 players this year.

Many Big East schools have already picked up commitments for the 2015 cycle but Lavin has secured zero commits (see Villanova two 4* recruits, Georgetown one 4* recruit, Marquette one 4* recruit, DePaul one 3* recruit, and Providence one recruit).

If he isnt recruiting because he wants out and is ready to see the program collapse even further because of it then shame on him. You have to wonder why someone like this who is paid so well would act in such a manner. If that is the truth it is disgraceful. But they showed the bench several times during the game today and the coaches did not look happy with the play. If he goes maybe Pecora should get another look. He wanted to come here badly.

Pecora? Are you kidding?
And that's why Otis should not be a Moderator on this or any board.

1. I don't know what you're talking about. However, I suspect that your post is a reflection of you not reading enough of the thread to know which comments should be attributed to whom.
2. Even if there is an explanation for your post other than poor reading comprehension, I would suggest that you keep your thoughts on who should and shouldn't be a moderator to yourself. When you own a web site, you can pick your moderators, but the moderators here are a privilege of the site owner, not you.
Sorry lowmanfan, I forgot what a tight knit group the small click all of you had going on for years. Just can't wait for you next detailed analysis of your own opinion
of games Did that meet your approval SIR MODERATOR?

So in a span of a few minutes you have directly insulted 2 moderators and the rest of us indirectly.
Why, i have no clue as your post re Otis is completely wrong.
Please refrain from insulting anyone including the moderators.
Thank you.

I am still amazed by the starting lineup dynamic. Like someone who stares at the scene of a bad accident
I am simply unable to lose my mental vision of that scene. Now I really want to hear him explain what he
was doing? Can there really be a rational explanation for such an insane decision/

The announcers thought Lavin was trying to motivate his starters on the bench. Yeh, real motivation. You saw how well that worked. Lavin, try motivating your fans and leave.

I'm sure Val Ackerman and Fox are impressed! As in "What's going on at our media linchpin in NYC"? Lol

Maybe one of the problems we have is that we have no nyc kids. Kids who are tough and know what it is to rumble in the playgrounds. Jordan is the closest we have as he comes from Philly and they can be tough down there. But other than him we don't have nyc. We had Harkless but he left after one year. I think he left one or two years too soon but he left. So who do we have from NY, who do we have to stop bullies like this GT team> ? No one. They play the video about nyc before the games but we aint got anyone from nyc. When they play that video I laugh because these kids are not nyc bred. They are not pedigree and it shows in games like today. Time to get back to our roots. These out of town kids can only serve to compliment a ny team.

Just because a kid is from NYC doesn't mean he is tough and just because a kid isn't from NYC means he is soft. Jordan is from Philly, Greene from Chicago, Dom from Detroit. The toughest kid can be from the middle of no where Nebraska. It shouldn't matter where they come from
Yea maybe but the nyc playgrounds is where a lot of tough kids have come from and they have been and still are heavily recruited from schools outside the area. Look at Pitt when they had a big run for several yrs in the BE it was because their roster was full of nyc kids.

Sorry I'm late to the party here...I honestly turned it off at 11-4, and never turned it back on out of frustration. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised later in the afternoon, but I was counting on it.

Headed to the nova game Saturday, and I'm uninviting my father in law. I can't handle two hours of him critiquing this team. I was so excited for this season to start...now...not so much.

Worked all day and just got home from b-day party. Never bothered to DVR game. Had a premonition that it wasn't going to be pretty. Based on final score and posts it was even worse than I anticipated. In the words of the great MRR, its starting to look like "the ship be sinking".. Have no clue were we even go from here. I just don't think I can stomach being a diehard fan much longer. Getting to old and weary.

OTIS is at least asking some tough questions rather than giving soft excuses. Everyone here is entitled to their opinions.
I know things are bad here when even the ever optimistic Dinkins goes silent and some mods turn negative.
Only a major turn-around will resurrect the faithful.

4. No trolling, baiting, flaming, etc. This is defined as posting for the sole or primary purpose of inciting other posters. Again, we are not going to play lawyer with you about it, so if you stay far away from the line it won't be an issue.

10. Give the moderators a break. We all started as posters - just like you. And we're still posters - just like you. We are volunteers, and we get absolutely nothing for the joy of moderating. No money, no parting gifts, nothing - except the headache of reading the site, trying to exercise our best judgment about how to keep things within the rules, and the grief from the offended parties about what we did and when we did it and how we did it. If you don't understand or don't like what we did, don't call out the moderators publicly. Send any one of us a PM. You'll get an answer, we promise. We can't promise that you'll like it, but you will get one, and it will almost certainly be that we are using our judgement to keep things in compliance with one of the above rules.

Sad but true Otis. Going into this season I had some optimism but serious concern about the recruiting situation. I had hoped that our performance would draw interest the way it did when Norm's guys got us to the dance. Unfortunately, Steve's guys are obviously not the equal of Norm's thus far. With Lavin's proven national recruiting ability I think it's very suspicious that we haven't signed anyone at all. Lavin keeps everything close to his vest so we aren't even hearing the Norm type effort stuff with the usual bad news. Off hand it's hard to visualize anything resembling the effort of our peer programs. If we had a real AD questions should be being asked about the game plan for the near future. When you add the weird starting lineups and pathetic game performances you really have to wonder what's going on. I've been loudly criticized for voicing what has now become the majority opinion around here. Sorry, but it's all been a little too obvious to ignore all along. At least we're not hearing the familiar "In Lavin we trust" any more. He was not my first choice but I would have been happy if there was tangible evidence that he was able to get the job done. Clearly folks that's a stretch at this point. My biggest worry right now is whether we're heading for another nuclear winter if the guy flies the coop. We know we can't expect any action from Monasch et al so it looks pretty bleak right now. I'm going to the Nova game but even a win won't fix the recruiting mess that faces us. I can't even speculate on the effect of the GT game on recruiting but it sure won't do much for ticket sales. As usual though we have no administration in place so it doesn't look like anything is going to change anytime soon. Good luck Johnny fans Keep the faith if possible.

Hey 45, your saying at this time Lavins guys not the equal of Norms ? Technically they have another year. Shame Norm never got more credit for the run that came during Steve's first year. Norm got a rough deal and should have been allowed to coach that senior class. That one and done under Steve might have really lead to a much deeper run with Norm at the helm. You do seem sincerely troubled the fix the team would be in if Steve were to bail out in shame at seasons end. Your a good and tough Johnnies fan who I think would emerge a stronger and more determined a SJU fan in Steve's absence then if he was still here. I was never sure how well you took to Steve from the start, but of course thats not my business. Go Storm.

Thats the tough part ,we thought this year was the year we would make some noise. We now have Sanchez and Sheed and the others are a year older. We look no better than last year. We may have even been closer to making the NCAa tourney until Harrison was suspended. We also have a healthy Greene and Branch. One thing also concerning is according to the ESPN box score Sheed only played 15 minutes and fouled out.

I hope I'm wrong but each game Jordan sits or doesn't start I'm worried he will leave the Johnnies next year. Again, I have to mention, most teams play and stick with their top recruit. Last game Rysheed wasn't aggressive on offense but he is one of our rare scorers.

Don't worry, Norm tried really hard to take credit for the run as a color analyst during the season. I think with Norm at the helm, as a college star the equal of HS teammate Anthony Mason, once DJ Kennedy went down in the BET vs. Syracuse, could have activated himself at RSF* to fill in and carry us to the Final Four.

* RSF - really small forward.

If our prized recruit does not start against Villanova it would be another slap in the face for Jordan.
Providence is schooling Gtown as we speak and is up 15. The Friars lost 4 players yet have a starting lineup.
We start walk ons. What school is in turmoil?

Two things.

First, Jordan is going to start in his home town if Lavin has any sense.
Second, shows how important Josh Smith is to GTown.
