Good Luck Boubacar Diakite
While his stay was short, he was still the 2nd best Diakite to play for ST John's
Disagree. IMO Boubocar is the better of the two. :)

I would be careful stating publicly you think that anyone is better than Mohamed.

Lol

Returning from major knee surgery can be a long and arduous road that often leaves a player a step slower and with less mobility. This may have been a mutual decision that will allow Diakite to get playing time at a level more commensurate to where he is right now. It's attractive to be able to fill a position with someone immediately eligble, perhaps a grad transfer big. hope hope hope.
Right on cue, spin spin spin. No way this was "mutual." It's way too late in the game for it to be mutual.
Exactly.  I spun it so hard that my words changed Paultz' post of Zach B's words to insert the word "mutual"

:)    Reading is FUNdamental

I would if O'bama was still president. What did Mo Diakite do score one basket in 4 years? Think even ISIS would have to agree he was the lesser of the two even though Bou never stepped foot on the court in a St. John's game. I remember Mo D playing in one of those big time HS all star games and looking pretty good and Dickie V predicting great things for him at St. J's.

Good luck, hope he has success wherever he goes. Probably not mutual but what can you do. This is why I dont trash kids when they transfer because as soon as they are not needed anymore they are nudged out. Despite that its a good sign it shows that Mullin knows he needs to produce this upcoming season. Hopefully we get that big man that always seems just out of our reach. Not sure whats left of the grad big market but that would be the ideal route to go.

The timing is odd though.
The 'word' from the Staff eking from the grapevine, was that the roster was set. We were done for the year.
It could be Boubacar initiated this and the Staff agreed, thinking maybe they could get a Grad Big in here.
Boubacar obviously realized he's been recruited over here and wanted to continue his rehab at a school that had PT available to him.
Or, I suppose it could be that Matt hasn't rested and has been eyeing someone he thinks is good and potentially amenable to coming here, and the Staff initiated this action.
Lets hope we get a Big added for the 2018-19 Season.
"We shall see" how it goes.

I'm done speculating. Just hope things work out for the kid going forward as well as for Chris & team in a very key year.

Never could get healthy.  He did average 1 rebound every 3 minutes over his STJ career.  No one last year averaged 1 every 5.   Accentuate the positive.  A healthy Mo D would be just what next year's roster needs.

It's really a shame.  I was really looking forward to blossoming in a few years.  He's uber athletic.  Best of everything to him in the future.

Recruiters always keep their eyes open. Thus all this stuff is fluid.

That's what she said! (as Michael Scott would say)
He's uber athletic.
Was über athletic. Might never regain explosiveness, which means he's a string bean without a top-notch shot or handle.
This transfer was inevitable and expected.  I'm sure Matt has a player already lined up to reinforce the front court.
Ah, '72...please don't 'bait' the Board & get us all riled up and expectant, okay?!!?
It's been modestly 'subdued' in a morose way lately.

I just assumed this was sarcasm.  Real shame about Boubacar.  Committed early to his dream school then an injury and a nudge out the door.  I was looking forward to cheering for him.  But, I can understand all sides.

I hope he lands somewhere that he can continue his rehab with top notch trainers, gets to play four years, and uses the time to get a degree or two.

Not completely lined up, but a couple of irons in fire I sense.

There is definitely momentum to find someone to fill that scholarship.  But it is not 100% guaranteed it will be filled because they want someone who can play significant minutes. Obviously if finding a ready to play big was easy it would have been done already. But they are reaching out trying to gauge interest.

Some hear Laurel and some hear Yanny.  I just keep hearing Abdul Lewis.  #RecruitHimNow  #ThisIsTheGuy

Someone on twitter made an interesting remark. There are now 3 players that SJU signed in 2017 that will never actually play 1 minute for them. Zach Brown never even enrolled. Sid Wilson enrolled then transferred to UCONN before ever playing a game and now Diakite. Wow think about that....3 players from one class never make it to the floor....
