Boubacar Diakite began practicing off and on late in the year. Transfer was a mutual decision with him unlikely to play much this year. Was told hope was for open scholarship to be filled with immediately eligible player. #sjubb

St. John's freshmen Boubacar Diakite will transfer, per source. Opens up a scholarship. Four years of eligibility left for the 6-8 wing who is still working his way back from major knee surgery. #sjubb

Good luck to Boubacar! Hope he continues his physical recovery and finds a landing place that allows him to best fulfill his potential. I remember being delighted with his early commitment to SJU. Sometimes things don't work out the way expected, but may work out in another way. Wish him very well.

Returning from major knee surgery can be a long and arduous road that often leaves a player a step slower and with less mobility. This may have been a mutual decision that will allow Diakite to get playing time at a level more commensurate to where he is right now. It's attractive to be able to fill a position with someone immediately eligble, perhaps a grad transfer big. hope hope hope.

Tough gig for a young kid with Hoop Dreams. I wish him full recovery and a successful hoops career. He should probably go 'mid-major'. Bet TC may pursue him.

Right on cue, spin spin spin. No way this was "mutual." It's way too late in the game for it to be mutual.

Where's my revolving door at?

Anyway I'm happy. This means we have a scholarship so the incessant posts about every transfer with a pulse considering SJU will continue!!!

Very funny. He was my first thought!
But I've never seen anything linking us to him...not even a tea leaf.

He just withdrew from NBA draft.

Timing of two is interesting - coincidence?

We land Lewis and I would cease and desist all snarky comments about the staff.

......for at least a few months.
