Get Ready to Welcome Simon & Clark

B
Next 2 days should be sunny.:)

Thanks P!
Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain...
the dark days are gone, and the bright days are here

I think we will be effective next year. We may not be final 4 material yet, but in 17' we might be coming close. I suspect we will be left with at least 2 scholarships for 17' after transfers, which is a very good spot to be in.

I know posters want to keep expectations low, but I think we're going to be pretty good next season. I know we like to talk crap about the X's and O's last season, but this staff only took a year to completely remake the roster with some damn good players. I love the potential makeup of the team on paper. We have solid depth for the first time in a while.

I would really like the Livingston kid for next year.
As for the other two anytime you can get a kid from Mich ST and Arizona to come to ST John's it is a good get. I don't care if they were the 12th man on each team.

Thank you my dear W A SJU

It's called:
We are relevant once again

We are becoming a desirable destination

We are...St.Johns

St. John's could land commitments soon from transfers Marvin Clark (MSU) and Justin Simon (Arizona), source says.

Talent over coaching has always mattered in basketball. Clearly recruiting trumps everything else

Ahhh The Process
April 2015-April 2016
Amazes and pleases me how positive (yet realistic) our posts have become - much more assured about the future e.g. 2016-17 will be good, 2017-18 better, 2018-19 possibly "making some March noise"
And why not - our staff is above average, working well above average, recruiting progressing as best as any of us could expect.
All good.

I agree. Plus the team always plays better when I'm in attendance. And I'll be at every home game next year :)

These two guys are wise additions if the 2017 class wasn't going to pan out as we initially thought. We're adding so much to last year's squad I can't see anything less than doubling our win total from last year. Also, I'm holding out hope we can be a bubble team and slide into the dance next year. This is mostly contingent upon adding Livingston. 1 more piece who is ready to play immediately next year. Bashir will be a great contributor, Ponds, Marcus will be a great backcourt duo someday. A year of experience for Sima and Yakwe. Okay if I keep going I'll talk myself into a national title.

Yes. I said this a few weeks back, with Livingston I think we flirt with the bubble and could sneak in. It would be an amazing overachievement for Mullin and staff. And great for the fans. I'm ready for the season to start :)

Jamal Branch was a highly recruited point guard in high school similar to Simon. Branch was pretty good. Hopefully Simon can be even better. Clark will have a year to play with Ahmed which hopefully will get him ready for a big senior season. Nice to be getting transfers from Arizona and Michigan State.

Livingston would be a big help as Yawke, Sima and Owens are on the thin side.

Only concern would be the classes of the roster if you include Simon and Clark in their current class with the redshirt. Without transfers we can only add one 2017 and two 2018 and would be completely reloading at foward and center in 2019.

Ponds Freshman
Lovett Freshman
Freudenberg Freshman
Simon Freshman
Yawke Sophomore
Sima Sophomore
Owens Sophomore
Mussini Sophomore
Ellison Sophomore
Clark Sophomore
Williams Junior
Ahmed Junior
Livingston Senior

Also whoever has been hitting my negative karma, please stop.

On top of the Marvin Clark Jr. news, I'm told #sjubb is in terrific shape with Arizona transfer Justin Simon. Visited together over weekend

. . . and would be completely reloading at foward and center in 2019.

If this is one of our bigger concerns, I think we're in good shape. A lot can happen between now and 2019.

Agree but some stability would be nice.
