2024-25 Season

Last season we had Kadary Richmond who, at 6'6. was difficult to defend on drives.
However, he was a zero threat offensively outside the paint.
His leadership was mediocre at best! He was not the coach on the floor. Once injured, Smith became " a wild card " because we never knew what to expect.
Ergo, our strength at pg was overstated.
There was no better example than our last game against Arkansas.
KR and Smith combined for 3 fat assists.
Jackson and Darling may actually bring more to the backcourt than some think.
The real wild card is when will this team gel and who will not fit in😉
This is really a nutty post.

Other than my mediocre leadership description........what else did you disagree with?

Read my first TWO lines!

My leadership evaluation is made vis-a-vis all other NBA eligible point guards and not solely about being a silent lead guard on the court. Putting aside "Homer Bias" do any of you think any NBA scouts were impressed with KD as a potential NBA lead guard??

My definition of leadership on the court is better overall point guards that played last year like Dylan Harper, Kasparas Jakucionis, Jeremiah Fears, and VJ Edgecombe.
All of these guys will be drafted.
Heck out of all D1 point guards last season KD wasn't even in the top 40 in assists. The kid coming in (Dylan Darling) was ranked #28 in assists.

My personal favorite pgs last season were Ryan Nemdhard and Steven Ashworth.....for what it's worth.

None of what I say takes away from the invaluable role KD played in our stellar season.

NBA eligibility or potential has zero to do with Kadary's performance for our best season in eons last year. He was the consummate leader for us and without him deferring neither RJ or Zuby have close to the seasons they had. To me that is the definition of leadership, making others better.

My last line should be the final point that you seem to have digested correctly.
Many of our close wins had nothing to do with KD deferring to others.
I'm describing his overall game whether you guys want to or not.

Kadary carried the offense like a PG should. He created value beyomd what you saw on paper and made those around him better. That, IMO, is how you define a leader. Last years team was significantly better when he was on the court. Look at the last game of the year. Team was lost without him leading them on the court. No way they lose if he didn't foul out (and 2 fouls on him were complete BS).

No offense, but why are we having this conversation? Kadary, while only a Johnie for one year, was a stellar player for us. He played his butt off and never complained about crap calls or having his scoring number diminished to allow those around him to excel. This team does not win 30 games without him at the lead guard position.

I could go on and on, but I just come back to the point that kadary made those around him better. That is what a leader does.
