Get Ready for 25-26!

Some more scheduling nuggets of sorts - plan is for 6 big OOC games.

We have 5 lined up: Ole Miss at MSG, 3 in Vegas, and now UK in Atlanta. One more is being worked on right now but I heard the very big name opponent pulled out, so they're looking for someone else.

I'd also anticipate maybe another OOC game in MSG potentially.

Just turn that CBS double header into a 4 team tournament and we got our OOC schedule sorted.

ooof... wonder who that team was that pulled out.... def not a Catholic school.... ba dum chhh!

the Players Era... last year... 8 teams- pools of 4... record/point diff made sense to crown a champion in 3 games... this year- 18 teams... really hope its 4 games.... 2 pools of 9... can still go 3-0 and not be crowned champ.... you confirm its only 3 games Dave?

For me Hopkins is the wild card in many respects. I don't worry as much as some others about the point. I think Jackson & Darling will be mostly ok.
But Bryce has only played one full season of college basketball and that was over 2 years ago. I know staff did their due diligence on him being healthy but I always worry a little bit about things like rust/re-injury in situations like this. Probably worrying unnecessarily but will feel better after I see him play 5 or 6 games.

Like you said due diligence was undertaken and many have posted he could have played last year in the 2nd half of the season barring the weird goings on in Providence.

But even over the past 2 seasons when on the court he has played and produced like the all BE player he was in his last full season. Honestly I have very little concerns about him. Anyone on the roster can get injured so there is that for all players.

Are you asking "who's the better overall player?" or "who's the better point guard?" I think Jackson is a proven elite shooting guard. Demery was the starting point guard at Georgia for most of this past season, he's experienced at this position, so I have to give him the upper hand when it comes to ranking these 2 as point guards. Smith has high-major experience as a PG, it is unknown whether Darling can handle BE-caliber guards.

Has Demery played more PG? Yes especially since Ian has played none at all. Has Demery's A/T ratio ever been what most would deem acceptable, much less good, for a PG. No. So I can understand why the jury is still out despite the experience.

I think you also have to look farther down the roster to make this comparison in case of foul trouble or injury. We have Lefty and take your pick of some dynamic combo guards. Who does UConn have to fill in when needed? BTW, I think Darling is also a pure point guard.
Darling is definitely the wild card. Seems to be the only PG on the roster with PG experience at high major D1 level. Being a PG involves lot more than bringing the ball up the court - the leadership intangibles of a true PG are invaluable. I hope darling can hack it at this level , as the lack of a true PG could be the Achilles heel for this team , as shooting was last year.

You can carry more than 13 (15 are allowed to dress for games) just use NIL to pay for what the scholarship would be until the Settlement goes into effect. Football teams have been doing it especially with their specialists ( Kickers, Punters and long snappers).
We did it two years ago when Brady was a walk on with nil money to pay tuition

I don’t think it was ever published who it was who was not going to be on scholarship when Wilcher and Ledlham joined and you might have that inside knowledge on it but the bottom line is you are 100% correct that we did it that season.
