Anyone watch this show?

I put off watching this show for years because the fan base gets on my nerves. Everyone that watches this show treats it like a cult.

But I finally decided to give it a try. Watched two seasons so far. Am enjoying it. It’s a little slow but the characters are really well written. Almost all of them have pretty engaging story arcs.

Great show
Stay away from the book nerds. They have a very jaded opinion of the show. Watch it as you see it and that should be the only barometer you use.

You going to finish by the time the last season starts?

That’s my plan. Two seasons down and I only started it like 4 days ago. I’m on spring break right now and I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed Tuesday, so I’m gonna be in bed with nothing else to do, My plan is to get through a bunch of seasons in that time

I put it off forever. With so many episodes and all 1 hour I never wanted to dive into it. But I finally did

When I saw this thread, I thought it was a “Next Coach” thread in disguise, but I see it’s a face value situation.

Good luck with the wisdom teeth, hope it is nothing more than an inconvenience. Of course, you should be used to the pain...

What is dead will never die.

It’s wonderfully done. The first season was a bit slow, but it gets better each season after that. I am not sure there has ever been a better show. They could have easily stretched this to 15 seasons.

Great show. After the last episode of most seasons I'd swear I'd stop watching because they killed a character I grew to like.

Good luck with the wisdom teeth. For what it's worth my teenage son had all 4 of his removed at once just before Christmas 2017 and he did really well. Was back to normal two days later and only needed pain medication (other than Motrin) the first day after.

It is known

Almost caught all of the way up. Just watched the battle of the bastards and I’m damn near shaking over here. Unbelievable.

After the game tonight I finished up the last episode. I am completely caught up and ready for April 14th. defintiely one of the greatest shows I’ve seen. Although there were some tough lulls throughout the seasons, there were some moments on that show that could rival any action/war film ever made. Some of the best moments for me:

- Hardhome: one of the best hours in television history. The undead army comes out of nowhere and Jon Snow, a character that was good throughout the seasons, becomes a truly great character here. Seeing him fight his way through that, and have that intense stare down with the Night King as he floated away, definitely sealed Jon Snow as a character worthy of being what has turned out to be essentially the protagonist and main “hero”. Other than what was going on thematically, that whole battle with the undead was just unbelievable. I read it took a month to film. It is my second favorite episode in the show.

- Battle of the Bastards: Best tv episode of all time. I don’t even know what to say about this. The shot of Jon Snow facing the entire army as they came for him, him drawing his sword, the score in the background was magnificent. The whole episode was beautifully done. Ramsay getting killed was so satisfying.

- Second to last episode of season 7: the name escapes me at the moment but I just watched it yesterday. When they go on a mission beyond the wall to get one of the dead to bring back and show Cersei. They end up getting trapped in the middle of a frozen body of water. The undead army surrounds them. Dany comes to save them with her dragons. Amazing.

Overall, the ending bothered me a little. Jon Snow being a Targaryen is a big let down for me. I’m glad he’s still a Stark because of his mother but I didn’t want him to be related to Dany. I thought they were a good match. Clearly they thought they were too considering they get together at the end.

Prediction for last season: I don’t think you are gonna get the happy ending of Dany ending up on the throne. It’s too straightforward. They won’t do it. I think a lot of characters are gonna die. Including Jon Snow. You know he’s gonna fight the Night King 1v1 eventually. I hope Sansa doesn’t end up on the throne. Worst character in the whole show. Her and Bran are unbearable but Bran is gonna be very important. I think there’s a good chance the undead pushes them out. They retreat to Kings Landing and beg for Cersei’s help. Cersei refuses to leave Kings Lansing or help, her stubbornness finally gets her killed as they get overrun. The “good guys” escape to the sea where the undead can’t follow them. The Night King follows on his dragon. Dany fights him with her dragons but ends up dying. Jon Snow fights the Night King and wins but also gets stabbed. The Night King dying makes all of the undead die. The survivors sail back to Kings landing. Where believe it or not, Tyrion rules. Him and Sansa get remarried. Game over.

Technically Jon is more rightful heir to the throne than Dany. So will be interesting to see how that is handled when they find out. Because the original marriage was annulled and he wed Lyana properly he would be in line before Dany.

I really don't know what to expect all I hope is stuff doesn't leak. I think it was parts of Season 6 leaked out. Images from 7 leaked but not any plots. So far so good. Fingers crossed.

Alt Shift X is great.

I don’t think Jon wants to rule. We will see what happens when he finds out but I don’t think he wants to.

I agree with you about the first two episodes you ranked, Jack, but the beyond the wall expedition was so derivative of Lord of the Rings it was painful to watch. Not to mention the plot holes and travel logistic questions it raised.

This has Arya or Sansa written all over it in the end. I see no chance of Daenerysaking the throne.

It’s a four-horse race IMO:

Arya
Sansa
Tyrion
Gendry

Although Tyrion would have a noble death and funeral to pull at the heart strings of the fans if I were writing the last season.
