The choices seemed greater than what we are seeing discussed on this board: B. Hurley, Pitino, and Cluess. I suspect Hurley will cost too much, given his current contract with ASU. Pitino has his history. Cluess also has a big buyout. Not sure any of these three join SJU.

Who else is realistically in the mix?

Chris Collins or Randy Bennett could be great choices if they hired two excellent local recruiters

It doesn't look good for any of the "top" coaching talent that has been reported as available.

All I know is week ago we had a coach coming off a twenty win season and Simon, Figueroa and Heron coming back. We had a 4 star recruit for 2021 and Mack coning in for 2020. We could have left well enough alone but that didn't happen.

Enjoy the mess, fella's. Brazziller sure is. He is getting more clicks now than he did with his hit-pieces all year.

Its hard to believe Cragg got rid of Mullin without having a working plan in place.

Perhaps some heard Randy Bennett on Monday Night , after winning the Championship said this “ Coaches get far too much credit when a Team wins and far too much criticism when a Team loses . It’s all from the Players.”

I didn't hear Randy Bennett on Monday night

Recruiting!

Can decommjtted before there were any rumors that Mullin was stepping down. There have been rumors circulating for months that Tabor was going to decommit. Simon was going pro regardless. Thus far, the defections have nothing to do worh Mullin’s ouster. To the contrary, they are an indictment on his lack of connection with recruits and players.

Recruiting is the name of the game. It was said many years ago that guys like Guy Lewis and Lefty Dreissel were lousy coaches but recruited so well that they basically rolled the balls out, let the kids play and won a lot more often than not.

This first was clearly a Matt issue.

The second was clearly a Mustapha issue.

The third I guess was a time to move on issue.

It may have been before the decision was announced but it is inconceivable that the players were not aware of the growing dissatisfaction with CM among people whose voices matter.

I didn't hear Randy Bennett on Monday night[/quote]. Were you listening ? It was when Nantz interviewed him on the Podium . It was the last thing he said as he moved to the side to let his Players talk . I’m sure you can check if you are doubting .

Ummm...maybe it was Tony Bennett.

First, that twenty-win record was bloated from an cupcake OOC schedule. The team's BE record -- which is the one to go by -- was a disappointing 8-10 seventh-place finish in a very weak BE conference, including a disastrous 1-4 record down the stretch (with lopsided losses to lowly Providence and DePaul). Second, unless I'm mistaken, the 4-star 2021 recruit you referenced is Tabor, who's a 2020 recruit. Problem is he withdrew his verbal commitment weeks ago. (Tabor's been living with Heron's family, and his decommitment came at a time when Heron's dad was reportedly having issues with Mullin regarding Mustapha.) Third, given Mack's closeness to Matt -- and not to Mullin (whose lack of ties to recruits we're all familiar with) -- it's unlikely he'd be coming here. Fourth, with Mack's cutting ties with us, we have no 2019 recruits. Why? Because Mullin and Richmond put zero effort into recruiting. Everything fell on Matt's shoulders ... and Matt's no longer here. Leave "well enough" alone? I guess that depends on your definition of "well enough," but if it means a repeat of what we've seen so far under Mullin, it sure isn't mine.

I think the full staff is as important as the HC. Get ACs on board ASAP. Need all who can recruit to recruit. Player development a must. MSG & NYC are a big plus in selling kids. On campus facilities need to brought up to date. How about a real arena with real seats? Practice facilities? Let's let mom and pop retire to other things.

Agree ACs are very important, but we should not be hiring ACs until a head coach is onboard. The new head coach needs to select ACs whom he can work with and who compliment his abilities. This year figures to be bad no matter who we hire. Let's get this one right.

Definitely agree, HC first with AC suggestions.
