Fordham (MSG), Sat., Dec. 16, 3:30p, FS1

Has he shown anything to say he’s a BE level player?
He’s 4 games into his soph season. I see flashes. I’d love to see him redshirted and spend 5 years with Pitino.

He has the physical potential to be All-Big East defensively if he adds some weight and strength.

I think Pitino may tell him to consider the portal at season’s end, so he can get more PT, and we can do likewise.

I don’t think so. Pitino said Ayo was the hardest worker/best teammate he’s ever coached. I think he gets a redshirt this year, and he “replaces” Traore as a depth piece. Maybe after he graduates, he transfers.

I don't think so. This is an athletic and hard working kid. His value in tough practices gives Pitino a valuable yardstick to measure better players against him and a chance for him to eventually contribute off the bench. There is no value in redshirtting in an NIL world.

I was caught on the Jumbotron dancing once last season or the year before.

My moves were better.

Ayo played in his 4th game.

Is that the max he can play and still redshirt?
That was the football rule, the basketball rule was different but it might be the same now. The basketball rule was based on the number of games the team played. If you played a game after say game 7, you couldn’t redshirt. Again, not sure what it is based on now.

How many good, hardworking kids can we accommodate? Traore is another player that would see mor PT elsewhere.

I agree with everything you said but to date Conway has not shot the ball well although it's a small sample size. I would like the vast majority of our 3's to come from Dingle, Alleyne and when open Ledlum and Taylor. Jenkins should shoot a lot less of them.
Ledlum's most effective taking ball to the hoop and short pull-up shots. 3-pointers not so much.

Some thoughts:

1. Never realized how annoying Fordham fans were. They were rowdy, walked around with chip on their shoulder, and were chirping at our fans even down 10+ all game basically. My wife was not happy the Fordham fans kept mocking the weight of our cheerleaders & pointed out they should try finding a mirror 🤣

2. Felt like this gane should have been put away much earlier. Even though we had decent lead all game, Fordham fans were just waiting for their run so they could explode. Should’ve been up 20+ most of game instead of 10-12. They still felt they were hanging around at that point.

3. Don’t really get the sub patterns in these games. We cannot have Drissa, Conway, etc. in for that long in Big East. Our defense was a bit better but Fordham missed lots of shots other teams will make. Too much standing on offense too. Stagnant at times. Also, heard a guy on the Babylon line checking his phone say “The guys on Redmen are not happy after the win” which made me laugh. All in all, decent game but we have a lot to improve. On to BE play.
