Fordham (MSG), Sat., Dec. 16, 3:30p, FS1

Do you think Fordham is good?
They are 204 in Pomeroy and 213 in the NET so draw your own conclusions. Beating them by 22 like I said earlier was slightly better than expected which moved our NET from 67 to 63. If we continue to outperform expectations we have a shot at the NCAA. Not saying we will but that is the goal. That and somehow getting RJ Luis back while he can still make an impact. He probably has the best chance to sniff the NBA as anyone on our roster and based on his comments, Pitino knows how valuable he is.

I completely agree. North Texas being 100 slots better on NET, despite Fordham losing to them, also seems right based on the eye test.

I’m happy we beat the spread, that’s basically the most important thing against these teams & I think everything you said is spot on.

I only asked that question because I still don’t think Fordham is good enough to say we can learn much about the team. They have nothing that we’ve struggled with in the past (athletic guards, shooting big men, etc), and haven’t really don’t much this year to show otherwise.

Do we? He is an offensive player and once Luis comes back we have plenty of offense in virtually all of our lineups.
Yes we do imo. Dingle needs to pick it up & be the second option on this team. He can clearly score the ball. Needs to ratchet up his intensity on defense.

I have no problem with Conway takin some of his minutes if Dingle is not busting it out there at all times. Conway can shoot, play D & dives all over the court.

I agree with everything you said but to date Conway has not shot the ball well although it's a small sample size. I would like the vast majority of our 3's to come from Dingle, Alleyne and when open Ledlum and Taylor. Jenkins should shoot a lot less of them.

Losing Quiz was a lot. I've seen all of their games on the tele and 1 in person and know they've had better days than yesterday including last Sunday in Brooklyn and when they pasted the aforementioned local rivals. There are plenty of worse teams out there and I figure the Rams won't finish bottom 3 A10 but middle of the pack instead.

It will be interesting to see who starts at the SG spot on Wednesday Vs Xavier . Dingle , Alleyne , Conway ?

RP presser doesn’t mince words about his Harvard and Penn players , and his dissatisfaction with their Defense . More so on Dingle .

I think a clear majority of posters would have to admit we were expecting a lot more from Dingle than he’s given so far . Yesterday , he was not much more than a after thought . Evidenced by his reduced playing time and continued lack luster play .

Like most of us , I think we were expecting 15-18 points a game from Jordan . Every game .

And , it’s a mystery why Alleyne isn’t getting more minutes ? Clearly , he can play defense and shoot . In BE play that’s going to be important Dingle ? Remains to be seen . Maybe he’s more a off the bench guy , get in there just to shoot . And , hope he’s hot.

And , considering all the negativity directed to Jenkins , mostly unfairly in my opinion . Dingle has been treated kindly in comparison .

Alleyne has more skills than Dingle . Better defender , equal if not better shooter , etc .

You have to admire RP putting Traore into the game and getting a contribution . Those 3’s were timely . Who knew he had that ?

Agreed. I know it won’t happen. But I would like to see Diingle at the 1 with Jenkins at the 2. IMO dingle needs the ball to be effective & Jenkins is more of a combo than point. Bring Wilcher/Alleyne off the bench with Conway picking up some minutes until Luis gets back. Bottom line is we really can’t judge this team until R.J. get back. Until then Dingle, Taylor & Alleyne need to pick up the slack because Soriano is playing like a friggin’ All-American.

he made the threes, but missed his free throws.

Of course . Look at it this way , he made 2 threes from long range and missed a couple of free throws . We got 6 points from him when we expected none . The free throws would have been icing on the cake .

Still he brings everything he’s got whenever he plays . That’s admirable and a good teammate attitude . It’s why only he and Soriano made Pitino’s first 2 draft choices .

Have to give credit to Dunlap and Conway, both of whom left it all on the floor yesterday. No doubt CRP values their effort. As coach said, floor time is given based on production and effort in practice. Dunlap was diving for loose balls as was Conway. Effort matters, and sometimes will trump the overall talent edge to teammates who may not give it their all.

I know it’s a over sight but , how about Traore too ? His effort is A plus anytime he’s out there . And , he’s got a decent stroke on his 3’s .

I stayed away after the BC game (which I watched late/recorded) because I can't handle the sky is falling stuff. Glad to see that we dominated Fordham because they are not very good. Hopefully the defense can show up for us when the conference games start this week because we will not win much if it doesn't. I am still very hopeful for the season and future because we have the best coach we could ask for. Maybe RJ gets back soon and is something close to what we think.
