Fired up for Villanova

I like hearing Harrison describe Sampson as a "monster" this week in practice. He is unstoppable on the offensive glass when he really wants it, and he has the ability to get Pinkston into serious foul trouble if he faces him up mid to high post. This would be a different team with a nasty Sampson at PF instead of as crappy extra wing.

I hope the game plan is to take it at Pinkston early and often. Jordan, Branch, and Harrison should be able to draw contact off the bounce and Sampson and Sanchez should face him up all night. I have a feeling Sanchez fouls out... Hopefully I am wrong.

Pinkston and Bell scare me more than the guards. Hopefully this is the game we see Jordan drive and kick to Greene and Harrison. Hopefully this is the game Greene becomes a full-fledged SG. Hopefully this is the game Branch remembers he was a top 60 recruit.

Hope floats in your post!
I hope Dinkins comes back to start a game thread.

I've tried hard not to weigh in on the outcome, as I can't accurately separate what I want to happen from the reality of where the team is right now, BUT, your news is really encouraging, as my gut is saying that tomorrow our guys are really going to be bringing it, and that our fans are excited about this game. Would love to see Sampson emerge to have a monster game.

Villanova will have plenty of fans. Their pregame party is sold out but with so many local Villanova grads NYC Catholic school kids, I've always felt that the same kids root for SJU as well, as many (like mine) have parent who are SJU grads. Maybe this is one reason that Villanova fans have never been as hated or obnoxious as UCONN, Cuse, or other Big East schools.

If I had to pick a fan base from the old big east that I enjoyed or bothered me the least it would be Nova fans and you're right pretty much all my friends who are Nova grads root for St Johns also

Villanova was always my favorite fan base to hang around with at the Big East Tournament. Fans were knew the game, respected their opponent, and were generally good guys/gals.

BC had a fan base very much like that when they were in the big east, too. Strange, considering most of their fans are probably Red Sox fans as well, and we know how obnoxious they can be.
