Fired up for Villanova

I am soo fired up for this team to play Villanova...I look for us to rebound...I take the positive out of the GT game..Max shot well, and once the film is broken down I think the kids will see they need to focus on the spacing on the floor. We ran into a buzz saw white hot three point shooter for GT. The team battled back in the second half, and cut the deficit. Whatever the reason that we started two walk ons, should be rectified.. I think the kids will realize that playing as a team is more important than the individual...I liked what I saw out of CO in the second half, I liked Dom's energy. I think the kids are embarrassed and due for a statement win..I don't think its a bad loss against GT, they just need quality wins..If they can play like a team, and screen for others, limit the three point shots, we should be fine...I like us to win this game...

I'm going to watch the game. But I am not fired up, I am Dissapointed. I'm not expecting a W, but hopefully I'm wrong.

I should really get over it, but the blind optimism drives me crazy!

What are you pumped up about? Please explain to me what our offense does well or, even better, what our offense does.

Who will we run a majority of our plays for against Villanova? If you don't know the aswer to this question, could it be because you don't even know who will be on the court?

Lavin's salesmanship is unparalleled for sure. This guy landed head coaching jobs at UCLA and St. John's, without being able to coach basketball. Gotta give him credit.......that's amazing.

Hopefully we have now figured out that sitting down players who have always had teams revolve around them to watch walk ons play ahead of them is the exact wrong way to motivate. This unless one wants to motivate transfers. Pick the 5 best and sub only for a reason.

I plan to be there and intend to have a beer before that game starts. I think a Stella Artois. I need some minor enjoyment before that game starts because who knows how bad it could be.
I would like nothing better than to see them beat Nova and Jay Wright but I watched how Nova was running the Cuse out of their own gym for about 10 minutes of the first half before the bottom dropped out and I wonder if Nova starts that way against us, would we even have a chance? Would the team have the energy to fight and come back or will that be the thing that breaks the camel's back? I doubt if they could rise to the occasion if we fall behind 28 to 5 or anything like that. My suggestion to the coaching staff is to run these kids all week because you need to give Nova 40 minutes of hell. 40 minutes of constant pressing. Win or lose at least they will be trying. But I am sure they will come out with some soft man to man or lazy zone defense. I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE UCLA PRESS IS??? Surely the coach learned it from John Wooden and he has the players to do it this year. So what is up?

+1 Karma for this

In high school after a tough loss, I would be chomping at the bit for another game to play. As a fan it's no different. Villanova can't come soon enough. I want to see a team that competes for 2 halfs especially since we mailed it in the first half of the g town game.

I'm going to be by the garden early for nova. I know we are a better team then we showed yesterday . This may be the most over used cliché in sports but nova is a "must win game" not so much in terms of eliminating us from NCAA etc but more so for our confidence and our resumé our program and our fan base.

I am looking forward to Nova as well...don't know that I take much out of 2nd half "run" and still puzzled by constant lineup changes...But, do think that we have a number of "gotta get mine" stat conscious players...hopefully these measures result in some sort of "team" approach...

I was fired up for the Xavier and Georgetown games. Now I'm not optimistic at all about Saturday based on what I have seen in those two games.

I'll be rooting (as always) but expect another loss due to the helter skelter program we seem to have at the moment. The lineup rotation is beyond baffling to me and I am seeing too much going through the motions from our players.

Hopefully I am pleasantly surprised, but no way am I fired up.

I am watching Villanova play Providence as I post this message and Villanova is waxing Providence pretty good up 39 to 21 with 4 minutes left in the first half.

I am watching it as well
Nova is up by 24 at the half (50-26)
If the St John's team that played yesterday shows up to play Nova at MSG, stay home and stay warm

... but hey if you read the comments on this site from a few weeks ago St.John's has more "talent" than Villanova.

The reality is that Wright recruits disciplined players that fit into his system rather than merely recruiting athletes that can run and jump.

I was at Taffner today, talked to a few players today, we are taking this a lot harder then they are. Not to say they weren't upset but ready to move on. They were very nice to me and the group of kids I was with.

Fans always take it harder than players in any sport. By Saturday these guys will have almost forgot last game. That's a good thing.

Know you have a slight bias towards Nova :)

We are going to find out if the players have given up, or if they have some heart and still respect Lavin. You've seen it before, teams quitting on their coach, and it might be happening here with SJU. if the johnnies do quit on their coach, and have a dreadful rest of the season which consists of games like the game played yesterday afternoon, I can't see Lavin being here for the start of next season. We will see though soon enough.

I think the ass-whooping at Gtown was just what these guys needed. It was the first game where they were embarrassed and couldn't take away any positives or make any excuses. I expect a win Saturday.

Someone has to bottle up Pinkston. He's a beast... Time for Sanchez to play with some fire.

Overall, Sanchez has been a major disappointment to date
Especially for someone who allegedly had NBA potential
We really haven't seen much of that so far this season
Somebody needs to tell him that he is not our point guard
