Find Me 11 Big East Wins

I said going into the season that the magic # for us to get an NCAA bid is 11 Big East wins and i still believe that

Currently 0-3 (and a 4-point underdog tonight, which would put us at 0-4), where on the schedule are we winning 11 BE games (we would have to go 11-3 assuming we lose tonight) with the following left:

2 vs GT
2 vs Xavier
2 vs Creighton
2 vs Depaul
2 vs Marq.
@ Nova
@Butler
vs PC
vs SH

Realistically, with a razor thin team and a bad in game coach this is a very tall order and uphill climb to get an NCAA bid....

I am a big D-Lo fan and i feel bad that the seniors wont havea better ending but coming in this was the # 3 recruiting class in the country. They havent been to an NCAA Tournament and they havent won a Big East Tournament game.

Very, very disappointing at the levels of underachievment the staff has reached here.
 
I think they can win:

2 vs Depaul
2 vs Creighton
2 vs Marq.
Home vs. GT
Home vs Xavier
Home vs PC
Home vs SH

They then just need to pull off one minor upset at any of the following:

@ PC
@ GT
@ Xavier
@ Nova
@ Butler

It might be unlikely, but nothing is given and that's why they play the games.
 
I count 8.

They would need to run the table in the BE tourney.
Problem is with the short rotation, our key guys will be dead tired come March.

No doubt they have their work cut out for them. Critical to beat PC & DP on road to regain confidence and stop bleeding. We'll see.

I got ridiculed for saying this during a game thread, I admit it was in jest. but my gf made an observation in November that he wears those jumpsuits to cover up the fact that he is overweight..spot on if you ask me

That has to be the first task, obviously. Do that, and we can start to look ahead and talk about "what if's". Fail against Providence and Depaul and the only thread with any juice will be the numerous Fire Lavin discussions.

She sounds like a keeper.

"Lavin dresses the way he does because he's fat and he's vain. He's fat because he's been living too much of the good life - too much macaroni and gravy, too much braciole, too much chianti - and his age and his illness and his now sedentary lifestyle have caught up with him. But Lavin also has the incredible vanity of an airhead who became a celebrity at an early age and the incredible insecurity of an celebrity who failed publicly and spectacularly. He's embarrassed he's such a porker because he knows deep down that if he exercised some self control and spent as much time working out as he does doing his hair he wouldn't have man tits. He wears the sweat suit because his regular clothes don't fit comfortably and he wears the pinstripes to cover up the jiggles that would clearly be visible while he's jumping up and down on the sidelines.

I look at it this way: he's a clown and this is his clown suit. I find it very appropriate."
 
I agree, 11 wins seems unlikely. There are always those who like to think if they wish for something , it will happen..

In the BE , No game is certain. Butler outplayed SH last night at home and beat them in OT, AT HOME. Sure Gibbs fouled out but, Butler wasn't going to b denied.. Notice the Bulldogs don't have the alleged athletic skills that Lavin seems to favor, over Basketball skills. But, they are in the top tier of the league, with 2 impressive road wins. And, 2 of their starters fouled out too! Lavin doesn't seem to see BB skills in a player and it is a blind spot in his Coaching.

BTW, the more I see Carrington, the more I see it as a Lavin failure..

Also too, we are seeing not all top 50-100 kids are great BB PLAYERS. Many are 1 dimensional, i.e CO, Pointer, Jakarr Sampson. Branch was top 100 and he's a very mediocre PG, at best.

Jordan, has to be viewed , at this point, 1and 1/2 years into his college career as a disappointment, on and off the Court. He hasn't remotely brought the game he was suppose to have. And, we are now seeing why the Catholic, Philly schools, NOVA, St Joe's, LaSALLE weren't interested. Yes, TEMPLE was but, out recruiting Temple, doesn't seem to me to be a major coup for Steve.

No, I don't see 11 wins at this point.. 500 in the League may even be a stretch, given the hole dug so far.

We won't need 11 wins since we started 11-1 and the Big East is strong this year.

Last week we were ranked # 15 in the country so getting back into NCAA contention is not as hard as you think. A win tonight changes everything because Depaul is beatable and then we get Marquette at home. 3 straight big east wins and we'll be close to being ranked again. Beat a suddenly vulnerable Duke team and we'd definitely be ranked again.

1 game at a time. There's no reason we can't win tonight.

My question for you would be:
Before the season started could you have found 11 Non-conf wins? No.

Before BE play would you have found 3 losses in our first 3 BE games? No.

Cant tell you where our wins will come from but can tell you that if we win tonight @ prov we are in fine shape, and quite honestly, better shape, than im sure you would have predicted entering the season. But yes that is a big if. Lets get this done tonight.

We won't need 11 wins since we started 11-1 and the Big East is strong this year.

The #15 ranking was smoke and mirrors. Our only "quality" wins OOC were Syracuse, which has yet be ranked, St Mary's, which has not been ranked and Minnesota, which is now 0-5 in its conference.

I didnt predict 11 i said thats what the # would be for us to be in the NCAAs. I thought that the ADR and Thomas losses doomed this team completely.

I said we can start 1-3 and people jumped all over me.

A win tonight still puts us 2 wins behind where everyone had us through 4 games which was 3-1.

Avon, my point was that not many people would have predicted our great non conf start, nor our poor BE start. To that point it is hard to predict where our wins or loses will come from the rest of the way. Could we win 12 games the rest of the way? I think so. Could we win 6 games the rest of the way? Yes, that could happen too.

Hopefully with the week off, the bench players got lots of practice.
Would be great to see tonight, one or two getting alot of minutes. I won't hold my breath though
