Especially when the walk ons are playing and they haven't
Probably a good decision - not much meaningful playing time available for either guy this year
I still think that Jones, in particular, has some upside
If he takes the year to work on his body and quickness, I think he can be an asset in the future

Hopefully Jones will be good enough in another year to replace Gift. Need to recruit someone to replace Sanchez. Balamou won't see much playing time next year either.

Jones should be better than Gift when all is said and done.

He has an explosiveness that few with his body type ever have.

And he showed something early last year that no one on this team has: a back to the basket game.

Got back from the "game" and I use the word very liberally. This was a total waste of 40 minutes IMO. It appears Humboldt was missing its best players and we basically played a good high school-level team. Not a good game to prepare for a nationally ranked team. Karr was MIA again but then again, he had better competition in prep school.
Yes, Hoop can shoot the three and Gift scored around 24 points with the ball going inside a bit more. Hope it gets fed to Chris upon his return.
Mike Rice was at the game as was the Maven.
Small crowd to witness this embarrassing mismatch.
Sorry for the post here but some mod must have also been embarrassed by this game and locked the thread.

this roster is so loaded it is easy to see why. Balamou has not played a bad minute for us. I'd really like to see his development.

I guess Coach reads this board as one of our esteemed posters suggested that he redshirt Phil and Jones just a few days ago. LOL.
Both Felix and Jones have a large upside and a good year of solid practice would do them and the team each a ton of good. Neither will get any burn this season, same also applies to Marco so there is really no reason for them to be on the roster and waste a season.

Don't know? Maybe? Seems like a move to help the kid out more. I can't see it being for basketball reasons. Lipscomb is never going to see real court time.
