Fairleigh Dickinson

During the game, they showed Coach Lou as he was talking to Zendon Hamilton. I've seen Zendon near the bench the last three or four home games. Does anyone know what his associiation is with the team.

Is this Z behind CO on the floor in a suit at the Dome?

Yes

Is he just hanging out or does he have some role with the team?
Not sure, but I have seen him taking notes at the games. Could this be some sort of internship?

Good win last night, STJ teams of the past would have played down and won this game by 2 in OT after a huge win. Moved the ball well in the first half.

Kids are really playing with a purpose right now. Offensive sets are really crisp; everything appears to be muscle memory, there's not the halfway movement, followed by awkward pauses, followed by one on one that the last two years have been littered with. Good results aside it's so much more aesthetically pleasing to watch.

Was nice to see us play so much man last night too. With the exception of Jones hitting a number of outrageous shots, the D was airtight. You can see the guards working on playing exaggerated help on the weak side, which we'll have to do with our lack of size, and they were doing so at a high level. Branch and Dee in particular have turned into incredible help side defenders.

Side note, but it's becoming comical how on court confrontations are immediately presumed to go against us by the officials. Rysheed commits a mildly hard foul v. Cuse and it's a flagrant. Dom throws a ball off a kid and gets a (deserved) T but even after review the FDU kid gets nothing for the initiating elbow. Then Dee (a little acting notwithstanding) gets a dead-ball elbow right in front of the ref and they have to go to the monitor to figure that one out! I usually don't care about this stuff but am growing a bit tired of these ones going against us no matter which side of the coin we are on.

For a small team with so many ball handlers we are horrible when confronted with pressure defense.
I honestly don't know what game you're watching sometimes. How have they been "horrible?"

No, they haven't been horrible Guinness but they're playing a team with players that are half as talented as them and nowhere near as athletic. Yet, when they applied a little pressure defense on them it looked like they had trouble handling it. What happens when team like Georgetown with their high quality guards apply pressure? I just think at this point they should be handling token pressure like that with ease especially against an inferior opponent. This game was never in doubt but is was closer than it needed to be for too long.

I think they've turned the ball over against pressure TWICE this season on the full court and once against a trap in the half court. Tonight they did something they rarely do and that is tried to throw it over the pressure. It backfired. There's nothing here folks. Move along...
Exactly. Except that one TO you alluded to, they had no problem getting up the court against FDU. They were basically playing catch and either got a shot at the end of the :45 or got to the free throw line, where they didn't miss. In fact, expanded their lead at least 5 points in that time frame.

I'm not complaining guys, this team has played some very good games against quality opponents this year (Syracuse , Gonzaga, Minnesota). I'm really proud at the way this team has played so far this year. They played FDU and the game was never in doubt, which a maturity that this team hasn't shown since these guys have been here and I applaud them for that. I just saw some minor things that need to be cleared up if this team is really going to take another step forward here. That's all I'm saying. I watch some these other teams that are highly ranked and their offensive games just look so much more fluid to me at times than ours does. I know that has to do with the fact that our guys are not great shooters. Although Phil has been the last two games. Maybe it's just me. I will be rooting like hell for them the rest of the year.

Full Press conference

Dee always has the perfect answer to every question. The maturity in him compared to his freshman year is greater than any accomplishment he has had on the court.

I have not watched the game yet, but I am glad to see the score. Judging from the box score, I am surprised C. Jones didn't get more minutes and Amar got nothing. Sooner or later we will be in a game where one of these guys will have to give us minutes. I would prefer to get them some work before we hit conference play.

This team's starting to remind me more and more of the 6 man unit of Lavor/Reggie/AG/Erick/Bootsy/Chudney. Their passing is getting better and everyone is aggressive on defense and the boards. CJ/Amar can share the Donald's role, which was minimal. This team's actually bigger than that one with out CJ and Amar.

One comment by announcers, never followed up, about team about to get more size. Any new info on ADR or JDR?

We re definite getting JDR soon. Not sure what they were talking about specifically but hoping ADR becomes eligible soon.

The play by play guy noted the DelaRosa brothers were twins. That four year delivery of Adonis period must have been painful for mom. :)

It explains the weight difference

I was very impressed with our ball movement, especially since we did not rush our offense. Our post guys knew where everyone was on the floor.
Confused as to why Pointer stayed in the game with four fouls. And why Jordan didn't get back in. This kind of game calls for more subsitutions. Maybe its me but can't understand Balamou's playing time last night. Does he ever take a shot?

Ball movement & spacing are much improved. Additionally Obekpa, although not an offensive force, is becoming adept at kicking ball out to open guys and hitting cutters. I'm actually finding it fun to watch compared to the nonsense we ran last year.

It is also fun to watch us play defense. Against good competition. Last night we weren't giving as much effort per usual against lesser teams on D but when we played Syracuse, the defense we played in those final 4 minutes was remarkable, it got overshadowed by the PG4 onslaught but it was amazing defense.

They were running plays and setting picks for each other last night instead of the usual 3-man weave they ran at the top of circle all year last year. They seemed to be playing a lot of high-low too with Pointer at the top of the lane (elbow) and Obekpa on the block and it was working to some satisfactory results. I don't know how that would work against a team with more size but I liked the way it looked.

The guards also seem to be making more of an effort to get the ball low too. It's early in the season, so I hope this continues.

Good point! We have improved helping on defense & obviously everyone, because of our limited size, has really made it a mission to rebound. We seem to also be deflecting more passes.
