Kids are really playing with a purpose right now. Offensive sets are really crisp; everything appears to be muscle memory, there's not the halfway movement, followed by awkward pauses, followed by one on one that the last two years have been littered with. Good results aside it's so much more aesthetically pleasing to watch.
Was nice to see us play so much man last night too. With the exception of Jones hitting a number of outrageous shots, the D was airtight. You can see the guards working on playing exaggerated help on the weak side, which we'll have to do with our lack of size, and they were doing so at a high level. Branch and Dee in particular have turned into incredible help side defenders.
Side note, but it's becoming comical how on court confrontations are immediately presumed to go against us by the officials. Rysheed commits a mildly hard foul v. Cuse and it's a flagrant. Dom throws a ball off a kid and gets a (deserved) T but even after review the FDU kid gets nothing for the initiating elbow. Then Dee (a little acting notwithstanding) gets a dead-ball elbow right in front of the ref and they have to go to the monitor to figure that one out! I usually don't care about this stuff but am growing a bit tired of these ones going against us no matter which side of the coin we are on.
