Exiting Fans / Canceling Ticketholders

Cancelling orders? Hell no !

am very much looking forward to next season.
It is refreshing that St.John’s has finally hired an experienced head men’s coach who arrives with a proven system and who seemingly will create a relationship with his players.

I am very much looking forward to next season.
I am with Otis on this, I am a St Johns fan, have been since 1960. Experienced some great highs, was at Coach Lapchick's last game when we won the NIT in 1965, my senior year in high school. I first bought season tickets in 1994, Felipe's freshman year. It has been a roller coaster ride since then.

St Johns is in my blood, as a fan and as an Alumnus. In reality, St Johns is like family to me. Have I been disappointed, hell yeah, but that does not mean that I have to lose faith. Three days ago, I had thought the ship was sinking and I was going down with it. Somehow, some way, the AD managed to make Sugar out of Shit, lmao.

When I look at Mike Anderson, I personally believe that out of all the candidates mentioned, he is the most qualified and successful. I am extremely happy that he is our coach. A long time ago, my grandmother, who was not formally educated, but had a lot of what we call Mother Wit, told me, "Sterling, sometimes you win by losing". I believe that is what happened in this instance.

College basketball is my favorite sport and St Johns is my team. "Let's Go Redmen".
Great post Panther...reflects my feelings as well...

By the way, never met you, but think I have seen you at games...high school senior in ‘65? You look good :)
Yes look forward to 0 -18 big east record. This will be first of many losing seasons to come for Anderson
Save your money and stay home
Look forward to seeing you there. Let’s get together for pre-game drinks

If we hired Jones I probably would’ve hibernated for 4-5 yrs. i love the MA hire. Even if he fails there’s nothing right now to show he isn’t a good candidate. Others had warning signs. AC’s can help with NYC connection but what city area kids stay these days anyway? Overblown IMO. We need national recruiting. This guy has done well at high major levels and several rankings/Sweet 16’s. Underrated guy. Seems like a guy who can sell program well too. Likely won’t be good next yr but still excited.

Mike i respectfully disagree with your last statement, if we can secure the core and bring in quality assistants who can pull a few rabbits out there hats, i believe our style of play will be a tough match up for most Big East teams who have never played against that before. GLASS HALF FULL......

Look, the previous staff had Mitch Richmond as the only African American coach but he did zero recruiting. This staff will be more diverse and attractive to recruits imo.

Really excited to see what coach Mike can do. I honestly like our chances to compete next year if LJ, Heron and Williams stay. I think we would see a really good version of Williams next year. Don’t know what Steere brings but if he can hit the glass and if we can keep Roberts and Ellison and coach can really get them rebounding, we’re gonna be ok.

Best of luck coach Mike. Let’s make this happen.
I read these comments and you guys are looking thru rose colored glasses. This is more rebuilding and the administration wants us to be suckers again 20 plus years and counting. ONLY ONE THING WILL BRING BACK OUR TEAM - WHEN ATTENDANCE PLUMMETS AND THE POWERS THAT BE FINALLY GET THE MESSAGE . I am not wasting another penny on tickets. It is over. They had the answers in Cleuss or Pitino and they picked a guy who just got fired to save money. WAKE UP!!
Cleuss? Good offensive coach...but slam dunk hire in the same breath as Pitino? He has had a very nice career at Iona but to say he has better resume than Anderson.dont think so
Tough to compare resumes and say who's is better. Can't argue with Cluess's winning % and success rate of getting his teams to tourney, but of course he did that at a lower level. Just like it's tough to compare Hurley's record to Anderson's, because he hasn't done it for nearly as long. I thought that Cluess was the right hire(not counting pie in the sky candidates). I now hope that CMA is the right hire.

Cluess has zero national credibility. He would have been good for local recruits but doubt he would pull in out of state 4 star players. I think that was a major issue for Cragg. A couple of Mavens backed Cluess which makes the Mike Anderson hire the absolute best choice.

There's a difference between having no "national name recognition" and no "national credibility". Cluess has the former. Never said he was the perfect candidate, I said IMO he was the best. Not a debate, it's an opinion. And you know what they say about opinions and assholes.......

And so what, Maven is thrilled with the Anderson hire. What does that mean?

Mike Zaun is on board, Newsman and Class of 72 as well, anyone else Key we are missing ? If those 3 are happy I am delighted. Mike at present CMA is very busy putting together his staff. Hopefully that can be done in the next day or two. After that he said he was going to speak with the entire team. Can’t see Steere, Wright or Carraher going anywhere. Hopefully all 3 freshmen will stay as I believe they would thrive under CMAs system. Add Heron and Figueroa and we have a nice group of 8 to start with. Not sure about Keita who had his best game by far against ASU. In but a few days CMA will know what holes he has to plug. Whatever pg he targets he is offering serious minutes with perhaps a very good core around him in a high powered octane offence. May be a very exciting proposition for the pg in question. I for one am not prepared to write off next season and think just maybe we could be good. as Dinkins said he should look at the juco route right now and I think he is 100% correct as those kids have a shorter window to prove themselves and CMA should have a lot to offer.
love that clip but LJ not smiling so much....wish LJ showed more excitement, don't want him to leave. He's a great player! Love Iron Mike so far
lol I'm good with LJ not being all smiley and giddy.
I'm the type that don't smile, I'd see the next coach, shake his hand and say welcome coach.
I really can't wait to get to practice at your workouts, and get the thing rolling.

Maybe he's the same way. Smiling doesn't mean a thing, he just wants to get next year started.

If you are referring to the original "Maven" he wants the best at SJ. Other mavens like Dee and a couple of others will never be happy. Pitino was a ridiculous choice. Porter was not moving the credibility dial. This was the best choice of all the ca candidates even Bobby Hurley who would bolt in a NY minute.

I agree with Panther's assessment that, after a week of disarray, we may have emerged in better shape.

I think Coach Anderson is a great fit for St. John's. It is my hope that he can further our progress and ultimately, upon his retirement, turn over a healthy, consistently competitive program to our next coach.

I also hope we can retain Mike Cragg. I beleive he has a vision for our athletic department that, if carried out, could significantly elevate our programs.

Now, let's fill out the staff and roster. I think we may be pleasantly surprised.
You guys are in fantasy land, drinking the water fed to you by the administration. They had both Cleuss and Pitino for the taking. Pitino would have us in top 10 in upcoming season San Cleuss in top 25 next year. Instead they went for a fired coach who missed post season 5 out last 8 years and someone who knows zero about NY recruiting. Cancelling tickets is the only way to wake up st John's .
Pitino was my first choice. Screw the NCAA too.
You want something bad you then do whatever it takes, and that means being able to take the consequence whatever it is. Nothing in 20 year anyway, so what's the worst that could happen?
Oh well it didn't happen so move on.
Cluess? lol. None proven in big conferences.
Anderson - Successful at Mizzou and Arkansas, so welcome aboard coach, lead us.
This Dee guy has got to be just trying to wind people up. No way he can believe the shit he is typing.
lol i used to go to other school board just to mess with them.
They'd get so pissed it had me laughing so hard.
Could not have said it better......you guys are so gullible...this guy was hired for one reason....no buyout. This school is so cheap they have set us back another 10 years....Pitino and Cluess were the only viable hires to get us back on track....ssickening to see this injustice being done to the program and even more sickening to see all of you guys buy into the bull shit.
lmfao Cluess awesome with powerhouse Iona hahahahaha
You joke

If people are so pissed then why stay? Is anyone holding a gun to your head?

Just go.

No inside info but I just don't see LJ sticking around. Not a grad transfer and that's a big plus, but his stock has risen a ton and after watching Owens play in the finals has to get him thinking. Might be our biggest "recruit" right now

He will stick around. He's the face of the program.

Figgy is my favorite player for his energy, grit, and court IG.
We’re on our way back.
I’d love him to lead us.

No maybe, he’s our biggest recruit without a doubt. Would rather LJ for 2 then precious for 1 that’s how highly I think of him. I think he wants to stay, CMA just has to give him a reason to.

Get the AC’s in place so they discuss how they are going to develop his game.
