Don’t know if anybody saw this but nice inspirational edit of the press conference yesterday.

Really excited to see what coach Mike can do. I honestly like our chances to compete next year if LJ, Heron and Williams stay. I think we would see a really good version of Williams next year. Don’t know what Steere brings but if he can hit the glass and if we can keep Roberts and Ellison and coach can really get them rebounding, we’re gonna be ok.

Best of luck coach Mike. Let’s make this happen.
I read these comments and you guys are looking thru rose colored glasses. This is more rebuilding and the administration wants us to be suckers again 20 plus years and counting. ONLY ONE THING WILL BRING BACK OUR TEAM - WHEN ATTENDANCE PLUMMETS AND THE POWERS THAT BE FINALLY GET THE MESSAGE . I am not wasting another penny on tickets. It is over. They had the answers in Cleuss or Pitino and they picked a guy who just got fired to save money. WAKE UP!!
I did not attend St John's but have been a fan since the early 80's. I might not agree with every hire , but I would never abandon ship. I might "boo" the coach but will always support whatever player who chooses to suit up for us. I live upstate in Poughkeepsie, with work schedules it's hard to attend weekday games but I will be there whenever I can. I guess I will see those who didnt give up their seats.
Same as you Pat, never went to sju but a fan since the mullin days. Could I say that I'd never abandon ship? Nope. A cheap, bad hire shows that they don't really give a crap, so if they don't then why should I. If jones was hire, like alot of others, i was gone.
I still believe that repoles interview changed everything (yeah I'm on repole and the interview right? Well I'll thank him when we win our first ncaa game in 2 decades, thank him when not if we make the sweet16, thank him if we make the f4. I wont forget him speaking up.).
I'm good with ma. You could say only 2 sweet16s and only 1 elite8?
Well what if he gets better players here with curbelo and others, he could have his best years here.
Maybe he's the one.
After lavin and mullin i said to myself, I'll never ever get all excited again for a coach, but with his resume, he deserves a chance.

love that clip but LJ not smiling so much....wish LJ showed more excitement, don't want him to leave. He's a great player! Love Iron Mike so far

Maybe felt he was put on spot a bit being asked to come up on stage if he just met coach that day and has not made commitment to stay and play for him. Takes time to build trust.
I agree with Panther's assessment that, after a week of disarray, we may have emerged in better shape.

I think Coach Anderson is a great fit for St. John's. It is my hope that he can further our progress and ultimately, upon his retirement, turn over a healthy, consistently competitive program to our next coach.

I also hope we can retain Mike Cragg. I beleive he has a vision for our athletic department that, if carried out, could significantly elevate our programs.

Now, let's fill out the staff and roster. I think we may be pleasantly surprised.
You guys are in fantasy land, drinking the water fed to you by the administration. They had both Cleuss and Pitino for the taking. Pitino would have us in top 10 in upcoming season San Cleuss in top 25 next year. Instead they went for a fired coach who missed post season 5 out last 8 years and someone who knows zero about NY recruiting. Cancelling tickets is the only way to wake up st John's .

Cancelling orders? Hell no !

am very much looking forward to next season.
It is refreshing that St.John’s has finally hired an experienced head men’s coach who arrives with a proven system and who seemingly will create a relationship with his players.

I am very much looking forward to next season.
I am with Otis on this, I am a St Johns fan, have been since 1960. Experienced some great highs, was at Coach Lapchick's last game when we won the NIT in 1965, my senior year in high school. I first bought season tickets in 1994, Felipe's freshman year. It has been a roller coaster ride since then.

St Johns is in my blood, as a fan and as an Alumnus. In reality, St Johns is like family to me. Have I been disappointed, hell yeah, but that does not mean that I have to lose faith. Three days ago, I had thought the ship was sinking and I was going down with it. Somehow, some way, the AD managed to make Sugar out of Shit, lmao.

When I look at Mike Anderson, I personally believe that out of all the candidates mentioned, he is the most qualified and successful. I am extremely happy that he is our coach. A long time ago, my grandmother, who was not formally educated, but had a lot of what we call Mother Wit, told me, "Sterling, sometimes you win by losing". I believe that is what happened in this instance.

College basketball is my favorite sport and St Johns is my team. "Let's Go Redmen".
Great post Panther...reflects my feelings as well...

By the way, never met you, but think I have seen you at games...high school senior in ‘65? You look good :)
Yes look forward to 0 -18 big east record. This will be first of many losing seasons to come for Anderson
Save your money and stay home

LJ was there, so that's good enough for me. Either way, smiling or not, no cartwheels until he removes his name from the portal.

And I not only concur that the next steps are 1. to get
x and o assistants and 2. recruiting assistants and 3. return of our better players and recruits.
AND finally in my heart of hearts I do believe we will see - sooner than later - “good news” - hey it is Easter season - on all three fronts.
Thanks again Otis, Panther2, Redmannorth and Johnny Fan and our other caring, supportive posters ;)
Go Storm!
You are very welcome SSG. I enjoy reading your insightful and well thought out posts.
By the way Panther2 I have never met anyone in this site - except one friend 5577 from our Brooklyn days long ago - next year I hope to break that reality - maybe walk up to the famous 114 section ( is that the one?) dressed in Civil War garb or something -
But wait that might not be politically correct lol
Let’s get it together and become a force once again in this college B ball world!
Go St. John’s!
General, would proudly march behind the Union blue and gold with you as our leader. For the crybabies who wanted Pitino because winning is everything my answer is "Not at this Vincentian University."

Everyone has been killing the administration for the past week (and really for much longer) but all of a sudden almost en mass we all just decided to drink the kool-aid? Don't think so. LMAO

I like Cluess, but using him in the same breath as Pitino is pretty silly. Not as silly as pushing Doherty for coach across thousands of posts, but close.

General, it will be a great time in 114 if you can stop by. The uniform could make for an interesting photo with Mike Maher's 1980s St John's wardrobe. Just leave the sword at home:)

Hire Hsu. It would bring a smile

If you wear Civil War garb, let us know in advance and I will travel in for that one.
I’ll be honest. If Moser or Jones got hired I’d definitely have cancelled my season tix after god knows how many years and even serving the Norm years. Pretty much just fed up with this school the past 2 weeks. Hiring Anderson completely changed that for me so I’m all in and can’t wait till next season and a fresh start from a LEGIT coach. BUT I don’t fault any of the guys who aren’t renewing. Monte is a good friend and I know every game he watches he will be rooting for St John’s and Anderson and I’m sure we will get him in 114 a couple games this season
Mike as you know, I consider you and many others on this board good friends. As you also know, I live and die with this team and this school. No one is more passionate and more animated them me watching an SJU game, especially with a few drinks in me(just ask Wendell). I've been a diehard fan going back to the early 70's when my older cousin attended undergrad and the school of pharmacy. I graduated in 81. My brother in law attended St. John's, my niece graduated last year and her brother(graduating Chaminade this year) will be a attending next year. My family roots run deep, as do my loyalties. However, I am giving up my season tickets this year and will wait to see how this team does under CMA before deciding if and when to renew them. I will continue to root like hell for the team, but what I won't continue to do is shell out money before I see what kind of product I'll be paying for. If the team is playing well, you'll see me in section 114 from time to time (or on celebrity row lol). If not, you'll see me at the bar after the games. If that makes me a lesser fan in the eyes of a bunch of anonymous guys on a message board, frankly I don't give a damn. Peace all.

This Dee guy has got to be just trying to wind people up. No way he can believe the shit he is typing.

Monte, hopefully you'll wait to see how the staff and roster shake out. Had we hired CMA before this public shit storm, I would have been happy. Presser made me like him even more and convinced me to fully support the program next year.

Windbags come in all shapes and sizes!

Could not have said it better......you guys are so gullible...this guy was hired for one reason....no buyout. This school is so cheap they have set us back another 10 years....Pitino and Cluess were the only viable hires to get us back on track....ssickening to see this injustice being done to the program and even more sickening to see all of you guys buy into the bull shit.

He was there. That was big. He didn't have to be there.
Anderson is the highest level coach we have ever hired. He s 59 and this is going to be his legacy.

Cleuss? Good offensive coach...but slam dunk hire in the same breath as Pitino? He has had a very nice career at Iona but to say he has better resume than Anderson.dont think so
