Exiting Fans / Canceling Ticketholders- I just figured a thread to say your goodbyes is in order. Others enjoy the offseason and rest your tonsils for 2019-20.

Cancelling orders? Hell no !

It is refreshing that St.John’s has finally hired an experienced head men’s coach who arrives with a proven system and who seemingly will create a relationship with his players.

I am very much looking forward to next season.

I am with Otis on this, I am a St Johns fan, have been since 1960. Experienced some great highs, was at Coach Lapchick's last game when we won the NIT in 1965, my senior year in high school. I first bought season tickets in 1994, Felipe's freshman year. It has been a roller coaster ride since then.

St Johns is in my blood, as a fan and as an Alumnus. In reality, St Johns is like family to me. Have I been disappointed, hell yeah, but that does not mean that I have to lose faith. Three days ago, I had thought the ship was sinking and I was going down with it. Somehow, some way, the AD managed to make Sugar out of Shit, lmao.

When I look at Mike Anderson, I personally believe that out of all the candidates mentioned, he is the most qualified and successful. I am extremely happy that he is our coach. A long time ago, my grandmother, who was not formally educated, but had a lot of what we call Mother Wit, told me, "Sterling, sometimes you win by losing". I believe that is what happened in this instance.

College basketball is my favorite sport and St Johns is my team. "Let's Go Redmen".

What a fantastic post Sterling. I believe you have captured the feelings of so many of us who took part in what we refer to as the glory Years and have had trouble digesting what has continually gone wrong.
Fortunately Mike Cragg and CMA have given us reason to be optimistic once again. The future looks bright for all the right reasons. The key word I loved hearing come out of yesterday’s press conference was « hunger «  , something that has been lacking for a while. Nothing better than a hungry coach with something to prove.

I did not attend St John's but have been a fan since the early 80's. I might not agree with every hire , but I would never abandon ship. I might "boo" the coach but will always support whatever player who chooses to suit up for us. I live upstate in Poughkeepsie, with work schedules it's hard to attend weekday games but I will be there whenever I can. I guess I will see those who didnt give up their seats.

I agree with Panther's assessment that, after a week of disarray, we may have emerged in better shape.

I think Coach Anderson is a great fit for St. John's. It is my hope that he can further our progress and ultimately, upon his retirement, turn over a healthy, consistently competitive program to our next coach.

I also hope we can retain Mike Cragg. I beleive he has a vision for our athletic department that, if carried out, could significantly elevate our programs.

Now, let's fill out the staff and roster. I think we may be pleasantly surprised.

Could not have said it better! Thrilled hired an experienced coach

My family starts the season at Dribble for the Cure and go from there till March
87 St. John's grad. Love college basketball and St. John's! Let's go Redmen

I think Otis, Panther2 , RMN and Johnny Fan deserve an extra pat in the back even beyond the gracious “ thank you s “ - well written and happy posts, something that we have not seen in a while...And ‘tis wondrous that we have a coach who sincerely seems to want to be here.
And I not only concur that the next steps are 1. to get
x and o assistants and 2. recruiting assistants and 3. return of our better players and recruits.
AND finally in my heart of hearts I do believe we will see - sooner than later - “good news” - hey it is Easter season - on all three fronts.
Thanks again Otis, Panther2, Redmannorth and Johnny Fan and our other caring, supportive posters ;)
Go Storm!

Actually, I currently have 4 that I’ll be renewing. Also, a friend (fellow alum and SJ baseball star from the 70s) said he may join the fray as well.

By the way Panther2 I have never met anyone in this site - except one friend 5577 from our Brooklyn days long ago - next year I hope to break that reality - maybe walk up to the famous 114 section ( is that the one?) dressed in Civil War garb or something -
But wait that might not be politically correct lol
Let’s get it together and become a force once again in this college B ball world!
Go St. John’s!

Been a fan since I came out of the womb, my dad was a student at SJU when I was born he graduated in 1973, I've been going to games since 1973/74 sorry cant remember but it was SJU Iona game at the Nassau Coliseum, my oldest son is now a freshman at SJU so full circle, as you can tell by my activity on this site, I'm not going anywhere I will live and die with this program and oh yeah I love the CMA hire.........

I was on the brink of giving up. after 27 years of mostly disappointment since Louie retired. It was starting to weigh on me. But in the end all I ever wanted was a professional head coach hire and we finally got it. Way too many leap of faith prior hires that never ended well. Here to some possible stability on horizon. Good job Mr. Cragg.
Lots of work needs to be done filling out roster. Good luck CMA

I was out for 24 hours but I will stay!
I am an '85 grad and long time season ticket holder for 33 of the last 38 years( took time off during Jarvis and Norm). I love SJU! I am an avid reader of the Redmen board. It's great to be a part of the family. I enjoy watching the team from Section 3 at Carnesecca and section 107 at MSG. Everything Mike Repole said was so true. We have an AD who knows how to get this done.
I hope they keep listening to him!

I’ll be honest. If Moser or Jones got hired I’d definitely have cancelled my season tix after god knows how many years and even serving the Norm years. Pretty much just fed up with this school the past 2 weeks. Hiring Anderson completely changed that for me so I’m all in and can’t wait till next season and a fresh start from a LEGIT coach. BUT I don’t fault any of the guys who aren’t renewing. Monte is a good friend and I know every game he watches he will be rooting for St John’s and Anderson and I’m sure we will get him in 114 a couple games this season

These jagoffs continued to up the “donation” on top of ticket costs for our seats. Similar to a PSL type thing. Strongly considering sitting this year out after their debacle. Will likely be buying on secondary market. Still bleeding red and white however.

I’ll be honest I don’t get it, why right now? We got so lucky to have Anderson after what transpired. Look at his overall record with the programs he was associated with. It’s not like he spent all of his time in low/mid majors. He has been a proven winner. Monte, what for you to keep your tickets was there a certain coach you wanted? I really hope you decide to keep them, by doing that you are showing your support to Anderson, Cragg and the kids.

I wish I was able to goto every home game, it has always been my dream. The last game I went to it was a 13 hour event so that limits me to weekend games. However my girlfriend really enjoyed which is great but bad cause she wants great seats and a nice dinner with some shopping. Lol for me to it will cost me over $800 without staying over. I’m excited to go to many more games at the garden on the weekends next year.

If they would have hired Jones or Hewitt I probably would have backed out also, but I'm very happy with the Anderson hire, and I will definitely be renewing.

I think someone on here said it before, but SJU season tickets probably are the best value in NY sports. My buddy and I dabbled with the 5 game package, and buying off the secondary market for a while, but then we realized we were paying almost more to attend 3 of the big time games than it would cost for full season tickets. We then splurged for the season tickets, and we couldn't be happier. We sit center court in section 3 in Carnesecca and section 117 at MSG. I often look at the secondary market for the bigger games vs. Duke, Villanova, Gtown etc. and see tickets in our section going for 200 bucks or more a pop. Best decision we've ever made.
