(EXHIBITION) Towson, Sat., Oct. 26, 12 Noon, N/A

Pitino seems much more optimistic about this team compared to last years
As long as it stays that way.... It was a decent result with giving everyone a chance to play against an ok team. I really don't think they are much better than Fordham. We need to be very strong heading into the Butler game.

I enjoyed being at the arena today.

It seems clear that this group is a work in progress and that the purpose of this game was to get minutes distribution and everyone some floor time. To that end it was a success because everyone (except Maker who was a DNP) played at least nine minutes and no one played more than 24 minutes. Also all twelve players who played scored. My sense is that at this point the defense is way ahead of the offense, but we have some players who will put up points for us but we also will win some games mostly by pure defensive will. Overall it was a good afternoon to start to become more familiar with this team.

Despite his lack of rebounding, I thought Vince showed off some good things today (soft touch around the basket and decent rim protection) and I have an increased belief that he can be a serviceable backup for Zuby. Luis showed off both the best of him and the worst of him. He is a unique talent, but has lapses that are maddening at times. In the end, I believe that Kadary will be our most important piece. If he ever developed a shot he would be a very good pro. However, on this level he has a very diverse and high level skillset and he will be a force for us. Personally I was happy to see Lefteris get some minutes and think he will be a really nice piece for us eventually.

Some negative things to note:
1) Except for Dunlap (2 for 3) and Scott (3 for 4) the three point shooting was non-existent (0 for 15).

2} Missing on 9 of 26 free throws is something that needs to be worked on before it costs us games. Specifically, I can't understand why Brady struggles from the line so much, but believe it can be corrected and that the coaches need to work on fixing that ASAP.

Looking forward to Fordham to keep monitoring our forward motion.

I agree, it was great to see them before the start of the season. For 20 dollars for lower sections it was a bargain.
I guess it’s not added to season tickets because it was a fund raiser. The seat cost same as a beer at MSG not
a reason to complain. We now have Pitino and a president who cares maybe it’s time we try to support them
more.

I meant the Baylor game.

We played a lot better offense in the Rutgers game putting up near 100 pts so I don t think that will be a problem down the stretch. The fact that we are playing solid defense this early though is promising. I think the offense will come along and be fine as we start putting it all together.

As far as Vince goes, look how far Zuby has come. Our bigs have some raw materials but hopefully in a couple of games start to get into the swing because we are going to need them.

It’s a work in progress especially the offense but I really was impressed with the defense. Good effort on that end by all.
Seems today was more about developing our depth. Zuby (15 min) and Kadary (14 min) basically had the day off. Glad to hear about the team effort on defense. I’m hoping with Kadary and Zuby on the floor for 30+ min will improve our offense drastically.

mjmaherjr hot takes from the game.

Lower bowl seating 40 degrees cooler than upper level

mjmaherjr through no fault of the school still has a bit of an issue with legroom but I’m just too tall

New food stand in lobby was empanadas . Anyone try them ? I love empanadas but don’t like them cold so want someone to try them first

Hot dogs need to be cooked more they are called hot dogs not cold dogs

People will not be happy come winter time if the security check is in same place. It’s outside the arena

All in all fun to be back. Season is here !

Note: got there 2 mins into the 2nd half and left with 4 mins to go... so extremely hot takes...

-RJ was playing like it was a BET game- goin after every ball, diving on the floor- love to see it. All BE team season Loading.
-Our back up Bigs (Vince and Prey) are "service-able".... we will need Zuby to go 30 mins..
-Devion is going to fun to watch
-Lefty... like what i saw... got freshmen yr Kolek vibes... hope he stays with us
-Jaiden looks and moves like he belongs... think we see him more that I would have thought.

Now... WTF is up with our Free Throw shooting...??? i know they have to practice... but like cmon... we are going TO LIVE at the Line with all the guys we have that can get to the hoop.... if we get the collective group of Kadary/Sim/RJ/Smith/Zuby averaging north of 75%... we will be in real good shape.

This was a scrimmage in the truest sense. Bench development was the focus and not running up the score. They could have easily won by 30 against Towson.
Dev Smith is still not steady in the lineup and RJ always has a tough time rising to the moment against competition like Towson. I'm sure he will gain control with time.
