Wait, wasn’t there a group who thought Daniss was not a pg, hurt the team, and would never have a pro career?RJ and Daniss are both gone, and our reasons to agree on things went with them!![]()
There was probably a larger group who gave Julian no chance to make the NBA.Wait, wasn’t there a group who thought Daniss was not a pg, hurt the team, and would never have a pro career?
I agree ram did not become divisive until Arkansas. Except when he was a sophomore.![]()
I wasn’t rooting that way as I was a big fan of him but hand straight up. I have been consistently wrong about his ceiling and never learned my lesson. There was probably a larger group who gave Julian no chance to make the NBA.

My view that I posted at the time was something to the effect that if Julian didn’t make it it wouldn’t be because he didn’t put in 100% effort to maximize his chances.I wasn’t rooting that way as I was a big fan of him but hand straight up. And we're off!Hurt the team was the crux of the Daniss dislike.
I don’t remember LMF’s stance on RJ, but I loved him.
He really didn’t have that good of a season his last year at St. John’s. I’m happy for him, a good kid. There was probably a larger group who gave Julian no chance to make the NBA.
It's impossible for a team's best player to "hurt" his teamHurt the team was the crux of the Daniss dislike.
I don't think this is necessarily true. I am on your side but I disagree with the premise you are using. It's impossible for a team's best player to "hurt" his team

I understand why some felt Jenkins hurt the team or how a player can hurt their team.
I think what they get wrong is they blame Jenkins for the lack of production of Alleyne, Dingle, etc. - when in my opinion those players failed themselves by consistently missing good looks all season. Jordan Dingle himself admitted in early March of that year that he wasn't the player he knew he could be. Then he ended the season a much better player. It had nothing to do with Daniss, in fact he was one of the top assist men in the Big East with ease.
A lot of shot taking Jenkins did he did out of necessity. Some of the other transfers were not making shots, Soriano (perhaps due to health) went ghost in the thick of Big East play. And even with that... We had 4 players average double figures that season (Jenkins 14.9, Soriano 13.8, Dingle 11.6, Luis Jr 10.9). Even Ledlum nearly joined that group, averaging 9.5. The narratives that get pushed about Daniss on here don't really hold up when you dig into the actual games

The sides are: (1) Jenkins played hero ball and it hurt the team and (2) Jenkins played hero ball because he had to
From January on Daniss was one of the best players in the BE. He shot 39% from 3 in BE play. He averaged 20 and 7 for the year. Last year's team would have been better if you swapped out Daniss for Smith. And '23-'24 squad would have been better off with DJ than Kadary, and that's no knock on Kadary. Kadary was a good point forward, but that team would have had no primary ball handler. Also factor the delta in 3pt shooting. I'll give the nod to the guy playing in the NBA.The sides are: (1) Jenkins played hero ball and it hurt the team and (2) Jenkins played hero ball because he had to
That was the argument. I think that team would have been very good if you switched Jenkins and Kadary. Kadary had this rare ability to let others do their own thing and make people around him better. Nobody was comfortable doing their own thing with Jenkins in the game except Soriano in the first half of the season. RJ was the only one who challenged him. The way he dominated the dribbling is what specifically bothered me. If he got off the ball more and took more shots and drives within the rhythm of the game he would have been one of my favorite players. Instead, EVERTYHING was on his terms. Kadary was the exact opposite. He let you do your thing and helped you do your thing. Jenkins made you do what he wanted...even with his assists.

Daniss Jenkins plays for the pistons who are in Michigan. Boom there you goI was just gonna chime in and say I can’t believe this thread is still going. But the last bunch of pages has nothing to do with the Michigan game lol.
Jack Williams with the save!Daniss Jenkins plays for the pistons who are in Michigan. Boom there you go
So you really think a NBA would have downgraded this team from a 2 seed to NIT team? This has to be a bit.NIT with Jenkins last year. Don’t know why people keep bringing this up.
