Especially when Lefty drills those last two FTs and we win in double OT.![]()
I feel for Lefty because he knew he could have won the game and looked totally dejected after. It was a super exciting exhibition game warts and all.Especially when Lefty drills those last two FTs and we win in double OT.![]()
Does SJU not get credit for causing those errors?Do me a favor and keep track of the number of times Michigan threw the ball away for an unforced error. It seemed like 10 to me. Easy to see that nobody is in midseason form at these scrimmages. Michigan is going to be a very difficult matchup once they get on the same page (and they will, Dusty May is a very good coach).

I was at the game and I have not read the previous 37 pages of post but IMO Lefty choked at the FT line. With that being said he will come back a stronger player and person next game. He is a solid 3 point shooter when a play is drawn up for him to get him open.I feel for Lefty because he knew he could have won the game and looked totally dejected after. Came here to say exactly this. A few were head scratchers but a lot more of the "unforced" ones were a result of us speeding them up and somebody throwing it into the stands.Does SJU not get credit for causing those errors?
Well no, that was the point - there are forced errors and unforced errors. Michigan had 20 something turnovers, when watching the game I thought about 2/3 of them we could claim credit for but about 1/3 of them were just passes that reflected a team (like ours) that just has not played enough together yet to be on the same page. So I was curious what Delaware's take would be since I'm not going to rewatch a scrimmage to verify (or disprove) my impression live.Does SJU not get credit for causing those errors?
Good post. Darling also flashed a crossover a few times that had Cadeau completely off balance, but for some reason he didn’t take advantage of it and drive to the basket. His handle looked really good, so I’m hoping he does more with it going forward to get the defense on their heels.Re-watched the game on MSG.
This was still exciting even though we knew the outcome in advance.
The Michigan announcers are outstanding! I hate listening to homers and they were far from it.
To those who think Darling is too slow...his stud counterpart, Cadeau, didn't have his way with him. He was held to nine points. I know it's a team effort...but there's that. Darling needs to start.
Lefty was a man among Wolverine boys. I hope he gets plenty of minutes. Based on this game, the team is better with him on the floor.
Their 7'3 guy traveled a lot and got away with it. This was far from a ref job considering how many more times we got to the line than the other guys...but doesn't anyone in stripes look to see if anyone's taking steps? BTW, too many touch fouls called. Let them play.
My wife and I sat with Doc Butler and his wife. He's intense, for sure...but knowledgeable. A pleasure.
I'd like you to share your clipboard with me at the next game because I question your 2/3 vs 1/3 split.Well no, that was the point - there are forced errors and unforced errors. Come sit with me and we can count together. SJU 85 can referee. Paultz can do video review from Florida.I'd like you to share your clipboard with me at the next game because I question your 2/3 vs 1/3 split.
Thank you in advance.
especially in the first half, Michigan was all out of sorts after the first few minutes due to the pace and elevated pressure. 15-5 turnovers showed thatCame here to say exactly this. Unforced errors is in the eyes of the beholder. They can be caused simply by making a team play faster than they want to, causing decision making or physical acts, like passing or catching passes, more difficult.
Or forcing the ball into the hands of players not accustomed to handling it or forcing a pass to a player in a position they are not accustomed to, such as a post player catching on the wing, etc.
All of those, by the way, are reasons that teams press.

RJ and Daniss are both gone, and our reasons to agree on things went with them!Lawmanfan is so off to start the year, here I am agreeing with Logen.![]()
I agree. I suspect the turnovers for each team will decrease as player familiarity with each other and the respective coaching staffs increases. But I will say that UM had an usually large number of unforced mistakes.Well no, that was the point - there are forced errors and unforced errors. Thanks - it was a genuine question I was asking - my impression watching the game was that there were maybe a half-dozen times Michigan just chucked the ball away unrelated to the press or anything we were doing, just guys who haven't played enough together and weren't on the same page yet. There were other times when I felt we had sped them up and that resulted in some errant passes. But a real-time impression watching a game live is not always accurate, so since you were going to watch on tape I was interested in your observation.I agree.
