Not convinced Darling is a 20 minute big east guy. Especially on defense. We desperately need a guy to step up as that primary ball handler

Darling looks very solid as a 12 mpg point guard. If as tonight he is our best guard (and it wasn't particularly close) we are in a whole lot of trouble.

But I am sure Pitino will get at least some of Sellers/Sanon/Jackson sorted out. They can't possibly be this bad.

I'd agree if he didn't foul out in eight minutes, lol. But its just one exhibition game. I do wonder if he's used to playing this level of intensity on defense, but I'm not super concerned about him because of his track record

1000%. TJ McConnell works because he comes off the bench and plays 12-20mpg. But if he's a starter and playing 25-30, he gets exposed.
 
They killed us on the boards, but there are not too many frontcourts with that combination of size, skill, and depth.

I know we like to call rebounding an effort stat, but that's not always the case.

Biggest pluses….. Zuby playing better in second half. Dylan Mitchell with great motor, Lefty off the bench, Dylan holding his own.

Biggest disappointments….Ian Jackson WTF is going on? Did Rick play to win or not? Sanon and Sellers foul issues, three point shooting????? Shooting in general.

Team has a long way to go and needs to get some sort of offense in place with special plays.

Maybe Pitino wanted to practice the press in a game situation, and used tonight to do it.

NCJ if you manage to pick up 5 fouls on defense in 8 minutes then by definition it was not a stellar defensive performance. Most of them were hand checks (some weak calls IMO) but he clearly has work to do on that end. Compare Darling who was much more solid defensively with the same assignment.

And I like Sellers. But cannot defend his game tonight.
 
Cadeau is a really quick guard and he did get the better of darling a couple times late when simply looking at who was guarding the ball. 2 times that lead to baskets, Hopkins on one and Jackson on the other were caught feet in cement in “help”. It will all get better. I don’t think he’s at a disadvantage athletically vs BE lead guards.

He absolutely was, though was never sold on him being a point guard, which I am sure messed with his development. Think Pitino now trying to walk that back.
Not really sure we have a point guard if Darling is as bad defensively as everyone keeps saying. Though Kolek couldn’t guard anyone and he did ok.

Yes him fouling out in 8 minutes kind of proves my point. There was also a possession in the 2nd half where he got beat off the dribble pretty easily, help came to pick up the driver then Sellers was ballwatching and slow to recover to the shooter on the perimeter that nailed a 3
