Pinzon doesnt look as skinny as he did when I watched his high school game back in the spring.  St Johns strength and conditioning staff paying off putting some muscle on the kid.

Finally they’re putting a body on Bashrami..

I told you the coaches read this board.

What I love is we have two frosh Pinzon and Stanley who will be factors this year.

Lots of takeaways at the half.

First and foremost, I think we have a really good shot at winning the Big CUNY this year.

Stanley is going to be a fan favorite. He moves extremely well for a big guy, really hustles and is very scrappy and seems quite comfortable inside and on the perimeter.

My 1st half thoughts:
Posh- looks to have lost some weight and in much better shape.
Champy - looks like Champy.  A stud
Joel- big dude.  Has a soft touch from the ft line which is nice to see.
Steph- smooth ball player.
Mathis- didnt see much from him
Pinzon- good size for a guard.  Put on some muscle.  Smart with the ball.  knocked down a nice 3.
Coburn- lefty.  did not do much out there
Stanley- junkyard dog.  Think earlngton before he decided to become a 3 point shooter.
Isiahah N- tall and long.  looks like he can spell Soriano to give us minutes on D
Wheeler- athletic and can score.  Hit a nice 3 and some other buckets.

I’d say Mathis’s defense is what began to blow it open.

Tarik Turner: "Soriano looks like Shaq" after he dunks on a DIII player 8 inches shorter.

Regardless of competition being shorter than Soriano, he is the first person we have had forever that can play offense as a center. He will be fine against bigger teams and get to the line where he can make shots too. .

Baruch very height challenged for sure, but still Soriano looks like a solid presence in the middle. Not sold on Nyiwe but seems like we have 10 guys that can play (counting Wusu).

i think Nywie will end up being more of a defensive center and in the press or when we need to play against multiple bigs like against UConn, ie. Sanogo, Whaley,, Sampson, Akok etc…
