Lavin said in interviews yesterday that he's going on a recruiting trip Thursday. Maybe he understands that this was going to be a tough year anyway so he's putting his energy into recruiting the 5 or 6 players he wants to bring in for next year. I don't know, I'm not tied into the program like some others on this board but I hope that's what he's doing. If that's the case, this might be a blessing in disguise. These players really miss his intensity and motivation on the sidelines during these games.
Aren't there contact periods for coaches as far as when they can and can not contact and speak to recruits? Maybe this is the contact period so he taking advantage of it and he will return to the sidelines after the contact period is over? Just guessing.
Look I love coach Lavin and believe him when he says he cannot coach games or do full practice sessions right now but if the posters with the opinion that he is basically writing off this season and thinks recruiting is more impt are right-is this really fair to the kids currently playing this season and for that matter the fans too. As I said I believe in coach and what he says so to me it is a hypothetical question but am just curious if the other opinion were true what are peoples opinion about that.
Do people really think that if Lavin was on the sidelines for the majority of these games that they would've won?? It's not like the coaching staff can't handle these guys. These guys are playing with their heart on their sleeves, its just an insurmountable hill most nights that they have to climb no matter who their head coach is. They are going to win some and lose some this year whether or not Lav is on the sidelines. Its not like these players are all seniors and they leave after this year, they have 3 years ahead of them (for most). I'd rather him get us the players we need to compete next year and so on, then have him on the sidelines and us still losing games, yet not having any players of worth come in next year. the last few comments on this thread are just pure ignorant....
Again I believe what coach is telling us. As to my hypothetical question and your viewpoints-Coach was hired as a head coach and head coaches coach their team during games-they may have assistants out on the recruiting trail during games. If this is a legitimate strategy to be out recruiting during games why aren't any other coaches doing it. The current players signed up to play for Lavin not Dunlop so if you are refering to my post and the succeding post as ignorant I propose that you check yourself pal.Do people really think that if Lavin was on the sidelines for the majority of these games that they would've won??
