Does anyone know if we will have Niywe back for this game?
I am not sure his brother’s funeral arrangements have been made yet as the family was trying to raise funds to help defer the cost So he might not be back until after Thanksgiving.

Temple is not good. Yes they beat nova, but nova isnt good either. The Empire Class crown is ours to lose. Lets win this thing and maybe we crack the top 25 next week w/ our 6-0 record.

Not predicting it happens, but a redshirt would not shock me.

Can't imagine how what he's going through. I've seen before when athletes suffer a severe loss, that sports is a way for them to continue on. Not saying this is the case for Niywe. My heart goes out to him and his family.

temple has lost two overtime games and beat nova. I'm not sure if its obvious whether they are good or bad yet.

They got a guy named Damian Dunn who was named preseason first team all AAC and dropped 38 in a loss to Vanderbilt.

He was 7-9 from downtown. Matter of fact, he is averaging 29.7 PPG in their first 3 games.

Maybe they aren't world beaters but they have some explosive scorers we need to be ready for

Couple really good guards who can score in bunche. Gonna take an effort defensively like we had last night. The defensive pressure and quick hands by curbelo has been incredible to date. Let’s see if he can do as good a job shutting down a scorer as he has done with facilitators.

They play Rutgers today @5 ESPNU in what should be a poorly attended Mohegan neutral setting. Should get an honest assessment from there later.

I suspect these empire games at Barclays will be similarly poorly attended, particularly for the second games. Will be hard for many SJU fans to venture there for a not earlier than 930 pm start, with the prospect of getting home really late on a work week.

This is not the Temple teams of old.
Aaron McKie is not walking through that door.
Oh wait, he is. He actually is.

Eh, Nova is good. Probably really good. Even without Cam and Moore they are still a good team in my mind until proven otherwise.

Anyone who beats Nova must have some ability.

As referenced above, Dunn & Battle are two big guards who can score in bunches. Battle had several really good games last year but then apparently got injured and missed most of the season. They will test our defense for sure.

Which Temple will we meet? The Temple that is clobbering Rutgers and beat Nova or the one that lost to Wagner and Vanderbilt?

Dunn is a scoring machine.

I watched Temple beat Rutgers by 6. Rutgers was missing two key starters, including their point guard. Temple loves to shoot the three. 19 of their 30 shots in the first half were treys. Dunn (#1), Battle (#0) and Hicks (#24) took the majority of their shots from the outside. Battle, who came of the bench, is a chucker. He never saw a shot he didn't like. Their big man (Reynolds #4) was fairly agile around the basket.

I think that Temple will have problems with our pressure defense. Rutgers got back into the game by pressing and they are nowhere as quick as we are. Rutgers was able to cut the margin from 19 to as litle as 3. I like our chances on Monday.
