Agreed, but in the future he should probably be better about deciding what to participate in and avoid something potentially so controversial.

I like Fanta. He’s obviously intelligent and he obviously loves college basketball and the BE in particular.
Anyone who slags him for being featured in that documentary is a clown. He doesn’t come off bad once and when the subject of Cooley’s marriage came up, which I felt was unnecessary, he didn’t even entertain whether it was true or not. Besides the one 35ish male Friar fan, none of them seemed interested in that rumor.

Nothing. He was covering his tracks for the DMs to the DePaul fan. If I was Fanta, if I had to comment, I’d be like, I don’t need your help buddy.
I watched it, the voiceover guy was great.
Don't care about Goodman.
The marriage stuff should have been left out; nothing confirmed, so drop it.
Legal observations:
1. Use of Big East Films (think NFL Films) is very misleading and suggests a connection which does not exist. Copyright and trademark infringement field day there.
2. They use logos of the big East, NCAA Final Four, songs, clips and other intellectual property without permission, another field day.
3. Being anonymous or going by DePaul Demon Degenerate (DDD) takes away credibility.
4. This DDD got so much publicity for this that he should pay Goodman and Dauster a royalty.
5. All DDD was doing was advancing his film career; he came onto podcast by Brian Patrick ESQ., and said he is living in LA after just moving from Chicago; said when asked by an intermediary to give his e mail address so the BE could get in touch, he gave "mistakenly" a defunct email address and hasn't yet heard from the BE. I think it will be lawyers for the BE he will hear from. He should have gone to the respected De Paul law School not the Film school. Portnoy's going to hire him at Barstool and pay his legal fees, I would not be shocked.
Now having said all of that:
I found the thing fascinating, other observations:
1. The PC student spoke like a Valley Girl, even twirling her hair.
2. The old guy was great. Needed to see a Dentist however.
3. The local Providence guy was good, he even threw Jared Grasso under the bus.
4. The Georgetown student seemed rich and entitled.
5. Fanta who should have stayed away from this (he does not need it).
Fanta is as fine a Big East cheerleader as you'll find anywhere, and came across fine and should not be held accountable by Association. btw, a few years ago, the first time I saw Fanta on T.V., I thought to myself, "so nerdy" and he has a face and body made for a podcast not for TV.
I really thought he was a student intern at FOX who somehow got ahold of a mic and was going to get in trouble for jumping in front of the camera without permission.
He seemed very young and well, like someone you would see doing sports on a university tv broadcast or in Podunk, North Dakota.
Fanta now is an established guy and good at what he does and I was completely wrong about him. I like him.
6. Over the last minute of the thing, I found a Taylor Swift song I liked, WHO KNEW?!
7. PC fans like their Tall Boys as much as Uconn fans like their PBR.

I don't see how him being a Depaul fan or being anonymous kills his credibility. The overwhelming majority of the documentary was not some kind of opinion piece. It was just taking you through the rise and fall of Cooley with Providence. You seem down on the creator of the doc which I really don't understand. So what if a part of him doing this project involved him advancing his film career? If I write about something I am passionate about and put it out into the world, sure I am trying to "advance my writing career" but it doesn't make what I wrote invalid.
Jack you missed my point. Being a DePaul fan has nothing to do with his credibility. Not having a name on the well-done documentary does, and in the Twitterverse going by DDD means he is trying to hide behind a silly moniker.
I object to him appropriating "Big East Films" to create the impression he or it is related to the Big East.
As a lawyer I would caution him to the many potential infringement actions he is opening himself up to. Maybe he doesn't care that's his choice and I could care less if he gets in trouble or not. No skin in that game.
Last, I don't doubt for a millisecond, he played up the affair stuff so much for clicks and reactions and to advance his career. Fine lots of people repeat rumors for the same reason, I don't have to like it.
The guy is talented.

I said it in my post yesterday…that girl has the worst case of vocal fry I’ve ever heard. It was irrationally irritating me.
Actually, a documentary filmmaker may have a good "fair use" defense in using news and game clips.
I went through most of it at 1.75x speed, but a lot of it was definitely within fair use. YouTube is far more restrictive than the law.
"Fair Use" may or may not mitigate the use of clips he got off of Youtube and broadcast, I am not certain about that part. Fair Use is not a bright line defense here, much more nuanced. It might help him.
Trademarks and copyrights to logos and songs were the more problematic areas I noticed as for the Intellectual Property of others.
No one can convince me his use of BIG EAST FILMS with the logo was fair or innocent use.
I still liked the work and appreciate the guy's talent. I am certain Goodman and Dauster and Gottleib and others have gotten him more attention that he could have hoped for. They're idiots --- so good for him. I don't want see him to get into trouble.
In the highly unlikely and in all probability purely hypothetical event that someone was actually a DePaul fan (likely a myth, but anything's possible) that would DEFINITELY have a substantial adverse impact on that person's credibility.
