They'll play for him if Mr. Michael Jordan tells 'em: 'You'll play hard for this coach or I'll ship you to the D-league."
And 1 more thing I think Dunlap deserves a ton of credit for is the fact that last year you could tell her groomed the young guns who stuck it out to be men. The players conducted themselves with the upmost of class with refs and road adversity considering the countless times players would be 1 foul away from being ousted. He mentally prepared these guys and kept their heads in the game along with his already heralded x's and o's.
I for one was very proud with how we conducted ourselves on the court last year. It could have been a disastrous season if the guys acted the least bit immature. It's a very underrated component of last year because Dunlap and the 6 players in rotation never hung their heads in the face of the challenges set before them.
What I feel may happen is that Coach Dunlap does well on his interview but Charlotte decides to hire someone else, maybe Patrick Ewing. They then tell the new coach that he needs Dunlap on his staff and they offer to double or triple his present salary. This is pure speculation but I could see things playing out like this. Charlotte is a young team and they will have some talent but they need to be taught. Who better to be the taskmaster than Coach Dunlap. He would have a role similar to what he has at St. Johns but with a lot more money.
Jordan is finding that building a winning NBA team is harder than hitting a curveball.
With all due respect to Patrick (the "warrior") Ewing, if Willis Reed couldn't be a successful NBA coach, then Patrick Ewing has no shot.
Willis Reed has a much higher BB IQ than Patrick ("get my shot blocked three times in a row; no-head-and-shoulder fake") Ewing, IMHO.
Willis's game was much more heady, nuanced and successful than Patrick's, plus Willis spent time on our staff with Lou!

First off is that they must somehow get the "Hornets" moniker back from New Orleans. New Orleans new owner Benson doesn't want the Hornets name. He wants to change it to something more...well...New Orleans. Charlotte would really benefit from the name, colors and branding that tied into the city of Charlotte. They lost much of their identity when that name left town. The Hornets will likely be back in Charlotte.

New Orleans should demand the Jazz name back from Utah!
new orleans should change their name to the hurricanes. (not for the devastation but for the drink )

Yeah, somehow I don't think that one would go over well Maher...

New Orleans owner Benson wants the name the Jazz but isn't likely going to get it. It's too bad when these names with cultural significance leave the region. Jazz fits sooo well in New Orleans. There is talk about changing to name to something more suiting and maybe even changing the colors to mimic the black and gold of the Saints which has a regional identity.
The Hornets name was specifically Charlotte. The Hornets moniker referred to the fact that the British referred to Charlotte as a "Hornet's Nest" during the Revolution. The name and brand identity belongs in Charlotte.

then I suggest the Po Boys
Whether Dunlap gets the position or not, its nothing but good for SJU Hoops.
