Dunlap fired!?

Top 5 reasons why Dunlap does not one back.

5. He was superior to Lavin the two seasons he was here.
4. If he was truly interested, I imagine room would be made.
3. Kids need discipline, especially since they apparently grow up into a-hole pros who run coaches off for making them work too hard in practice
2. Lavin wants his assistants to pursue opportunities for advancement.
1. When did he say that?

5. Why would he be an assisstant to someone who he is superior to in coaching skills?
a. Because with SJU it's Team Lavin, with Lavin respecting his assistants talents immensely and not afraid to listen or defer.

4. There is no room in the coaching staff roster.
a. Biggest reason, but the low totem assistant could be offered a job around the team

3. His coaching style ( tough disciplinarian) turns many kids off. Do you all remember how happy the players were when they thought coach Lavin would return?
a. Lavin can smooth over ruffled feathers. If Dunlap were here this year and had to discipline Harrison, Harrison may have left.

2. Why would Lavin bring ack a oach who already as one foot out the door.
a. Because with many top notch assistants, they are in-waiting for head coaching jobs

1. He enjoys coaching at te pro level better.
a. I think that may be debatable, and his style may be better suited to college

I think Charlotte should hire Mike Rice, but keep him away from the ball rack when you tell him he's fired.

I think the disciplinarian thing turning kids off is overplayed. It might turn off NBA prima donnas, but from all accounts, our most volatile player (D'angelo) had a great relationship with Dunlap.

I would love to have Dunlap back on the bench. I really don't think Martin, at this point in his career, gives the program what it needs. X's and O's and player development is what this talented roster needs. We have six guys ranked in the RSCI top 75, another in the top 150, and two JUCO All-Americans.

The story hits the nail on the head.
Why the hell was he ever hired in the first place?
He would have been perfect with our young squad this past season.
I pray he comes back to SJU and we will be a sweet 16 team next season.

he turned kemba walker's career around. i'd like to see him do the same with harrison.

were giving Dunlap credit for turning around the career of a guy who carried a team to a national championship? Geez it was only the guy's 2nd season and he went from averaging 16 pts and 5.8 assists to 18 pts and 5.9 assist per 36 mins. This is hardly career turning

Maybe the guys hiring him made a mistake. He's allowed to say yes to a good pay day.
