Dunlap fired!?

@GoodmanCBS: Mike Dunlap went from 8 wins to 21 this season in Charlotte - and was fired after just one season, per multiple media reports. Good job, MJ.

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please hire him back here Lavin.

PLEASE!

I am with everyone else here, I want Dunlap back.

My question is why did Charlotte hire him in the first place? They had the worst roster in the NBA by a mile, yet they played hard. Red Holtzman and Red Aurbach combined could not win with that team.

Once again Michael Jordan has pissed me off. He break my Knick loving heart over and over when he was a player,. He didn't hire Mike Jarvis for the Wizards (while Jay Wright waited in his car to sign a deal at SJU) and now he takes Dunlap from SJU, only to fire him a year later.

I despise Michael Jordan. I really do.

My guess (and that's all this is) is that he has no interest in returning here. Probably will shoot to be an assistant on the NBA level (much different then college, obviously).

As for why he was fired, I'd ask if the people running the Bobcats are idots, but we know the answer to that don't we? He probably had a tendancy to come off as a control freak, which I'm sure irked managment. I usually back management in these things, but not here, given Jordan's record.

Then stop wearing those Jordan sneakers,
You just make Jordan and Phil Knight rich. LOL

This just proves how inept Michael Jordan is. Hiring his friend Rod Higgins to run the team. Hiring a college assistant coach and expecting, what? A .500 season and the playoff bith after winning 7 games the previous year? Michael Jordan was a great player, but is as stupid an executive as they come.

I'd love to see Dunlap come back, but I don't know why he would.

Not to mention I don't even buy Hanes underwear. :p

I'd love to have him back as well, but wouldn't Lavin have to fire Hines, Chiles, or Martin? I don't think thats something he would do. If there were a spot open on the staff then absolutely, but I don't think its realistic even if Dunlap would consider returning.

Would love to see him come back too, but I don't think it will happen. Now that he's a former NBA head coach, I think he'll hold out until he gets a Division 1 head coaching job or an NBA assistant's spot. No doubt he'll be receiving enough compensation from Charlotte that he can bide his time until something attractive comes along.

He probably will not return. But having our talent and Dunlaps XO skill would be fantastic.

I don't think that it is as unlikely as some do that Dunlap comes back here for a year. It all depends on whether he's offered something more attractive elsewhere and how his release in the Bobcats' contract reads.

400K is something to think about and we show promise of once again becoming the talk of the town next year. Dunlap is a seasoned veteran who is accustomed to accepting temporary appointments.

Interesting that some of the pro players described him as "snappish" and complained about the length of some practices.

even if comin' back to the fold isn't what Dunlap wants, still be worth grabbing him on some consulting tip for the Euro trip and preseason camp? Love to have him back, but seems he never really "settles" anywhere. From Alaska to overseas to the bright lights to Jordan's Isaiah experiment...Dunlap seems antsy or unable to find the right fit for himself. Whatever, any work he can do with some of our players would have to be would be awesome.

Dunlap coming back would also probably be the best thing that could happen for Dangelo. They apparently had a great relationship.

With that said, I don't see it happening. But who knows, if the right hc job isn't available right now maybe he would return for a year.

I wouldn't rule out anything in sports, but I would think that if nothing turned up for him this summer, he could come back for a season or two until another good fit for him opened up.

Do you think that Dunlap's style was more disagreeable to Jordan than the actual win output?
