Dribble for the Cure

Perhaps Chris has such a ‘follow-through’ in mind.
I agree that would be a phenomenal coup.
We can hope that 1 event begets the other.

There’s more than 1 way to consistent success in college hoops or in any pursuit.
The basic ingredient is to have a skill-set / a knowledge base—or acquire it—and to plunge into the task full-bore, outworking the competition.
And it helps greatly if the process is multi-faceted and includes even un-traditional options and tactics—that may originate from one’s own quiver.
So long as they’re legit, above-Board, and constructive—following the basic recipe of hard work—I’m all for it.

I do know that the only reason David Robinson is keynote speaker at sju basketball dinner is his strong relationship with Mullin. Would also guess Warriors practicing at st. John's last year was because of Chris. Some of this is give and take in terms of helping friends when they ask. Instead of speculating why cm wasnt there realize that perhaps his presence at a Durant event also brings those type of guys to visit sju and our players which has enormous impact on the team.

It would be more helpful that NY High schools teams could practice at St. John´s (if it is legal).
Less Golden State Warriors and more HS gyms.
The Golden State connection tops everything if St. John's actually held a camp on campus filled with recruits, and KD and Curry show up to participate. But the GSW connection does next to nothing for us if Mullin is visiting Oakland to participate in an adult fantasy camp run by KD.
No matter how we continue to Slice (ouch) this absence it looked bad. His first obligation for the generous salary we pay him is to all things St. John's. Granted he appears at events but this particular absence for a great cause was callous. There is no defense and it never happened during the entire Lavin era. This event was downplayed by both Mullin and Richmond but the fact that school is in session and the players were left to their own devices to cover for them shows how loosey-goosey things are in our California laid back approach to things. Hopefully this will be the last of these types of absences which have been painfully highlighted here since last April.

You mean like the nasty whispers that followed Lavin skipping looie's 90th bj birthday celebration that had a full roster of who's who of sju basketball history

When did Lou turn 90? If it was in middle of Lavin's final season when was having issues with administration over extension, then it's probably not a shock he'd skip it.

It was indeed Mack, not Chris, face timing Aidan yesterday with Durant, a possible NCAA violation I believe. Watch this one

I'm sure the NCAA will make an example of them! No TV for Chris Mack for 1 hour.

Revisionist on your part. I was there and there were angry whispers, the same way you guys are criticizing mullin for missing this event. Lavin had a prior commitment, though his absence was obvious. There WERE no issues with extension in January of his 5th season, with a 6th to follow that was guaranteed. Nice try tho.

You have a great memory Beast. I was also surprised Lavin, Tony Chiles et al missed the birthday party at Antuns. If I recall correctly Hall of Famer Gene Keady was there but whispers aside, and to LJSA's defense, there was already a lot of acrimony built with both the fans and the administration critical of Lavin’s performance by January 2015. As we know, there was talk of a need for a contract extension prior to his final year to quash rumors that he would not be retained which, in turn, was thought by some to be hindering recruiting. Needless to say, the rumors turned out to be true because 2 plus months later he was let go with payment guaranteed to his 6th year.
Attending Lou's 90th birthday party would not have saved his job as there were already talks about replacing him which happened within hours of his departure. This after winning 21 games and going to the NCAA. As you recall, a once prominent poster here and his son had already mounted an Internet campaign to force him out.
Water under the bridge at this point.

As a result nmn of my own internal investigation said party has zero influence on decision makers.
