Docuseries Pitino: Red Storm Rising to Premiere February 11, Exclusively on VICE

SO many different things that I loved this episode

Taliek Brown

RJ and his dad. I didn't know his dad played overseas. Seems like a super grounded dad

Wilcher learning from the Butler missed dunk

The end Pitino talking to the team after the Marquette win almost got me. Started getting choked up

Episode 3 is another great one.
I’ll overlook a couple of slight embellishments, like Deivon being ruled out at halftime of Nova game (he came back for a few minutes in the 2nd half). Narrator also mentioned Deivon missed 5 games due to the shoulder injury, when he only missed 3. Still a fantastic show. Next week covers our win at Storrs.

From a purely entertainment/access/quality perspective, obviously enjoyable. We're really lucky they're following this year.

But I feel like I know too much to not critique the episode a bit.

The Sim storyline was a bit meh. Although it was cool to see him turn it around mid-game against X from being in his head, the real climatic moment was his big plays at the end of games in January -- especially against Villanova if I remember correctly. Sim really seems like a great kid and someone I want all four years.

No footage of Rick yelling in and out of the locker room after Providence game?!

Also if the theme of the episode was about getting the team closer together, the omission of Smith's suspension + team vote on it is pretty glaring. Especially since he's kind of blended into becoming the team's x-factor.

Again, really enjoying the show and did enjoy the episode. RJ stuff was amazing.

I didn't expect this to be so well done. Every episode is great. Vice is really getting a lot for its money with our success this year.
The Pitino exchange with his son before the New Mexico game was hysterical.

Rick: Kadary will be out
Jr: No he won't
Rick: He's hurt, if he does play it will be off the bench

Immediately cut to game announcer: starting at guard for St. John's, Kadary Richmond!

That's Pitino in a nutshell.

The thing I like about it is this is a phenomenal recruiting tool. Whether its players, agents, coaches, etc. watching it, you will know exactly what you're getting if you come here.

I think this series is great, when would we ever get a look behind the scenes like this?

Wow.

This guy can coach better than I ever imagined.

I watched a Louisville BET game years ago and happened, by coincidence, to be seated next to Denny Crum** (thought he'd have better seats, and with an entourage-- but no). He said to me at one point, watch how Pitino has these guys playing defense. Well, now I know firsthand.

Can't wait for Repole's speech, next episode.

** Louisville's Crum no slouch himself, HoF, two Natys, 6 FFs, .697 winning %, may he R.I.P. always had a rolled up program like his mentor Wooden

One other time. ESPN The Season covered the 2001-02 campaign. A two-episode behind the scenes documentary. The infamous “Where’s Alpha?” and the comical Eric King raising his hand when Jarvis asked the team who should be shooting 3s.

Looks like VICE has cracked down on the series being uploaded to YouTube and free access on its website.

But if any of you come across Episode 3, well let's just say I wouldn't report you if you posted it this thread....
got my youtube watch first thing this morning... only 160 views at 6am lol...
