Do we still have a chance -- NCAA Tourney?

No one has answered the question directly, so let me please do so:

No, NFW, nada, null, nope, nein, not a chance, no, I don't think so and, last but not least, are you crazy?

Can you please provide a little more clarity on your opinion? ;)

I don't buy any of this the way its been stated. If we were playing well and ran into some tough luck, I'd say winning 8 out of 11 in this conference is very doable. But when you are playing like crap in the second half 3-8 is more likely. In basketball you can turn it around quickly, especially in this league where it isn't like there is tons of talent, but its more up to how we are playing than who our opponents are.
"isn't like there is tons of talent" Really? The BE is loaded this year, #2 RPI, watch some games!

Who really knows, certainly no poster here, despite their prowess. Jarvis' last NCAA tournament was with a record of 20 and 11. He then lost to Wisconsin for a final tally of 20 and 12

Not feeling anywhere near as optimistic as I was a few weeks ago, especially with the injuries to Jordan and D'lo. But I'd still prefer to take it one game at a time as opposed to trying to figure out what's going to happen game by game over the rest of the season. Lets start with a W on Saturday and go from there.

We were probably the two ugliest teams that year. I predicted before the selection show that we'd be matched up solely because they didn't want to risk the tournament becoming uglified by having both of us around after round 1.

This conference is competitive top to bottom, but team to team there are no unbeatable teams. Save maybe for Villanova, and I'm not sure about them, all games are winnable. Watch some game? listen buddy - I'm one of 100 season ticket holders who actually show up (sarcasm).

Our losses:
Seton Hall - close winnable game. DePaul - OT game. Creighton - down 1 with a couple of seconds to go. Villanova - second half collapse. Butler - close winnable game.

i think we would have to go 9-2 the rest of the way plus win one in the BET to be a lock on Selection Sunday. That isnt happening. We still GT twice, Xavier twice, providence and the Hall at home and Nova and Butler away. This team has been too inconsistent to win 9/11 and we are too thin, in the event of an injury (Harrison) or a player going AWOL (jordan) we dont have anyone who can come replace them and match the production - so we are probably looking at the only hope of winning 4 in 4 days at the Garden in March. Impossible?....NO!...But unlikely because, again, the team lacks depth and 4 games in 4 days would wear us down.

If we win our next two games we are back in the field, so, yes, we have a "chance"

If you keep falling off your bicycle, and are banged up and bruised, you have to make it around the block a few times before you start thinking of competing in the Tour de France.

2 wins in a row and lunardi has us back in the field. Do I think we win 2 in a row is a different question but some posters claiming it's impossible are a little ridiculous. 7 games left against top 30 teams give me 4-3 and then win the games at home (DePaul, Creighton) and we are right there. We have a chance and until Harrison, Dom, or Phil give up I'm gonna keep thinking up ways for us to get in. Sorry

I agree. Think of it this way. We win tomorrow, it's our first sweep and we haven't gotten swept yet. In one regard, we could even up Creigthon, Seton Hall, and DePaul losses at home. Winning on the road vs. Butler is a possibility. Then we lose at Nova - expected. If those things happen, we are .500 - one sweep, one swept, and 3 splits. Lots of season left, but we have to play better.

No doubt we have to improve but we have always played up to competition, that's been a constant since Lavin got here. So the fact 7 of our last 11 is against top 30 teams intrigues me

Agree Jack. The corollary is also true; we seem to play down to our competition.

Always have a chance until you don't anymore. The good news about our schedule is that, as you point out Jack, it is backloaded meaning the opportunity to improve resume is greater. The bad news about our schedule is that it is backloaded and we've performed worse than anyone would have predicted on December 30 against the softer front end of the schedule.

So there is more opportunity but less reason to believe we will do anything with it. Beast makes a good point regarding securing a sweep tomorrow before being swept. For a team looking for something, anything to hang their hat on, this would actually be pretty significant in light of how well Providence has played to date.

The issue is we only have one other sweep set up (Marquette) while five have been set up against us. So we are going to be on the defensive and that's a tough spot to be in a league as good as this one with a team as inconsistent as ours. Franky, we'd have to do a 180 from how we've played to date to fend off 4 of those 5 sweeps. And that still leaves Georgetown and Xavier who, while the joke can and has been made that everybody is a bad matchup for us, are actually awful matchups for us as big, physical teams who are going to pound it in the half court.

But at least the opportunity is there. Here's hoping.

Hope is all we can do, but clearly we need to stem tide v hot PC team who plays well at MSG. Go 2 & 6 and the season's likely outcome becomes unfortunately clearer. Factor in a possible player injury, suspension or abduction along the way & final "chance" is winning BE Tourney. I don't think we can borrow Kemba Walker for that one. :) The proverbial one game at a time works for me. Beat the Friars!

I keep reading all these statements of what our record needs to be, but honestly you can't say that for certain because it doesn't take into account our RPI, how the rest of the field is doing, or where our remaining wins will come from.
