DJ Kennedy to the Cavs

He has the most minutes on the floor, at 25 minutes - the team is giving him a good look. hopefully his now 5 personal fouls (yikes!) means he is busting his tail on defense and not getting the benefit of the doubt as an unknown to the refs...

26 minutes... 10 points, 2-2 from three point line, 0-2 from free throw line, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal....

Great first game for him.

31 minutes, 12 points, 5 for 6 from the field, 2-2 from three point line, 0-2 from free throw line, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers, 5 fouls...

really solid. congrats to him.

Way to go DJ. He always did a little bit of everything to help the team win, and it's great to see him continue that as a pro. He must be thrilled. We can't have enough DJ Kennedy types representing the program.

Part of the reason the Cavaliers signed guard/forward D.J. Kennedy for the final week was so they could take a longer look at him this summer.

Kennedy said Sunday he has been invited to play on the Cavs’ summer league team in Las Vegas and he has signed a nonguaranteed contract for next season.

Scott called him a scorer, but not really a shooter, and a good passer with a high basketball IQ.

“I’m anxious to throw that out there at some point this next week and see if I see any of that,” Scott said. “When we signed D.J., a lot of that was based on really getting a good look at him this summer.”

This is Kennedy’s first chance on an NBA roster. He spent his first pro season at Erie in the Development League, averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists. With so few games left in the season, Kennedy said, he was surprised to get the call from the Cavs.

“But you have to be ready for the unexpected,” he said. “I was ready because we made the playoffs. It wasn’t like I was out of shape or wasn’t sharp. It was perfect timing.”

Great job by DJ! The only blemish is the 0-2 from the line...ugghhh. I'm sure the five fouls were the product of DJ knowing he has to show he is willing to be a tenacious defender--something I'm sure a lot of vets with more security don't feel the same pressure to demonstrate.

It'd be great to have three Johnnies in the NBA next year. That can only help with recruiting. All there woudl be SF's too.

Sounds exactly like the DJ we know.

Congrats to DJ, in some ways reminds me of Lavar Postell's career both young men as freshman you would not jump to a conclusion and say that they were NBA talent but through hard work and perserverance made it to the Association.

Congrats..........
