@DePaul, Wed. Feb. 14, 9pm, CBS SN / Sirius & TuneIn (STREAM)

Thought this piece on DePaul's new arena was interesting.

Good article, but sadly I couldn't help think about St. John's being on this article with similar story.

Chicago's a great city but can't see students jumping on the Blue Line or whichever it is to cut across the heart of the city on weekdays to catch a game.

Again...like St. John's

Chicago’s more a big little city than a megalopolis the likes of the Big Apple. One can skip across LaSalle Street in the heart of the Loop any weekday. One tries that on 5th or 6th Avenue during the week in Manhattan...there’s a funeral waiting at the nearest Irish ‘home’.
Let’s go Johnnies.

Spocky Ramone, (just because I've got a buddy with deep ties to PC), the Order that runs them (I think) are Dominicans not Franciscans, but I could be wrong. They're both Friars, whatever that actually means I do not know.

The two largest Roman Catholic schools in the nation are, at least at one time, DePaul and SJU, flip-flopping spots. It still may be the case. Big urban commuter schools with many first generation college students and lower than average tuition for a private University. Those are probably the reasons.

DEP and St. John's both Vincentian and have many of the same attributes.

We owe DeP for putting a beating on us at CA earlier in the year and I think the way this team is playing now, payback is going to come.

Don’t know about DePaul but St. John’s tuition might be lower than your average private school, but if it is, it sure is a lot closer to the average than it use to be!

I just checked it out, and you are correct, PC is run by the Dominicans - gold star for you!

The Vincentians in both locales have one definite attribute in common - they undervalued their once dominant flagship sports teams for many years.

PC has two top 50 studs coming in. And Alpha Diallo is good. I think they will be ok next year even though they lose Cartwright, Bullock, and Lindsey. Hall not so much.

If you don't have a good mix of upper classmen in this league, you are going to get your share of bumps and bruises.

This is a big game as we don’t want to get swept by DePaul and probably finish in last place. Win this and we will probably play Georgetown again in the play in game with Nova at 12pm the next day.

DePaul, like us, is better than their record. IMO, there are no bad teams in the Big East. DePaul has a size and depth advantage. It's just going to be hard maintaining momentum playing mostly 5 guys. The Blue Demons would have to play a very bad game and we would have to match the Nova intensity to win this one.

Interesting to think about. Would you rather end up 10 seed and get a chance to win and get an extra 6 hours rest and play the 2 seed in the Quarterfinals? Personally, I'd rather avoid Nova's side of the bracket. Just because they will be looking for revenge. I would much rather play Xavier in the quarters, a team we lost to twice, but it was close both times.

Damn, that losing streak is such a shame. If we could have just grabbed the 6 seed and gotten that first round bye, I'd really be confident in us winning the whole damn thing the way we are playing. But 4 games in 4 days with this rotation is next to impossible. But so was beating Duke and Nova back to back, so I will be rooting hard when the BET rolls around

I agree that might be preferable but nobody wants to finish in last place.

Agree - very even teams. They rebound better and we turn teams over a lot more. Shooting is very similar. Could go either way.

DePaul is a tough matchup for us. We need this game. Let’s go Johnnies.

I definitely want to end up on the Xavier side of the bracket.....If Xavier beats Nova this weekend, they would have the inside track for the #1 seed so finishing 8th or 9th would be preferable but I do think the quick turnaround from Weds evening to Thursday at noon is really tough......Ideal situation would be to finish 7th and have Xavier be the #2 seed but a lot of things would have to break right for us to finish 7th....

If we win out, we will most likely get the 7 seed, especially since winning out would include beating the teams right ahead of us in standings.

So i am rooting for winning these next 5. I actually do not think its impossible. Starts tomorrow night

Would also be nice to not go 0-4 vs G-town and DePaul, the 2 picked 9th & 10th.

We passed the test vs Marquette, this is another. See if we can win on the road vs. a bad to avg tea.
I think if we pass this test, we'll be fine and find ourselves in the nit.

Not bad for a team that start 0-11 in conf and thinking bust, then starting the roll vs no other then 2 top 5 teams. If we make the NIT, this will no doubt be the craziest season I've even witnessed at SJU in my life.

Maybe we do light workouts during off days to save ourselves for game day? We need that intensity every game.

I'm just hoping that this is the last year that we have no bench.

Yeah we need to win this. Our RPI is 65 and anyone saying we're out of the tournament unless we win the BET is not looking at the math.

Do I expect to win the next 5 and make the tournament? Absolutely not. But we have a better chance at winning these next 5 games than the 4 (in 4 days against tougher competition) during the BET IMO. Or at a minimum we need to win 4/5 to close the season and then probably a BET game or two.

Again, one game at a time, but this is a must win game.
