DePaul, Mon. Jan. 16, 4:30pm, FS1/970AM

I get that Ahmed is frustrating. He is. Unfortunately to Fun's point he is our third best player. So yeah frustrating as hell but really what is the point of complaining? He certainly has to play and play big minutes. Everyone blows sunshine up Matt A's arse so if you can't stand Ahmed, Matt A has to go out and get 3 more guys that are better than him and he then come off the bench. Until that happens you have to hope he plays well for us to have a chance to be in games.

Ahmed might be our third best player, but if Ellison does what he did Monday on a consistent basis, then he's the third best.

Ellison isn't consistent during games let alone on any kind of basis. Very similar to Ahmed actually, but first one of them to show any consistency will win title of our third best player.

I think the difference is that Ellison seems to be making much better decisions than he did earlier in the year. He seems to be growing as a player, even while he is still inconsistent. Bashir seems to be making the same bad decisions that he was making earlier in the year. I see no improvement, and IMO we should have by now.

Ellison: 1.5 yrs of D1 ball.

Ahmed: 0.5 yrs of D1 ball.

First non sarcastic post since 2007 and its a TKO.

Starting to think you guys are related, or maybe even one and the same.

Ahmed's also 23 years old, not exactly a kid. I would have expected some improvement by now.

With about 1:30 left against DePaul and ~ 10 point lead, BA threw up a 3 about 5 seconds into the shot clock. I suppose the kid was caught up in the moment, but his misunderstanding of the situation was disappointing.

This underscores a gripe many have, which is shooting 3's on fast breaks. Harrison used to be famous for it, but I've noticed the majority of the current roster is prone to this. I sense they all admire Steph Curry and believe if he can shoot from anywhere/any time, so can they. This really needs to be addressed.

Damn he's 23? Ponds and Lovett seem more mature then him.
He did what he wanted in JUCO, and think he can do that in DIV I BBall. LMAO
Better smarting up and come harder then this.

???
He might play stupid, but he always plays hard. Actually might play harder than anyone on team.

Hmmm.....if he keeps playing stupid and hard, does that mean we will have a diaper dandy in 9 months?

Well if you play stupid and chuck up 3's or turnover leading to opponents easy baskets then playing hard isn't good enough without the smarts. Play hard and smart, not hard and dumb.

I think the theme is "do we see progress" ...and that goes for anyone on our roster. It's amazing to see Ellison make big strides this year. The difference in Owens from November to January is huge too. So the flipside is frustrating...Yakwe regression, and Ahmed, who tends to make the same mistakes game after game. Ideally we want to see progress, learning from mistakes, even baby steps. Yes, Ahmed is a contributor, an every game starter, and I think we see his potential to be a better player than we've seen. Maybe we see a big change in him next season, and we see him play more within his skill set. Dom Pointer made quite a stride from his junior to senior year. And if BA doesn't, it's an open door for RF to step through if he can produce.
