This is the last game to test the 2nd team.Eric, if he plays against Delaware, do you believe that it’s safe to assume that this is an extremely mild case?
I don’t like the idea of changing starting line ups unless a player is doing very poorly. I always believed that kids need to know where they stand and what they need to contribute. With the egos of many of these players, changing lineups may only serve to lesson their confidence or send a mixed message. Of course, change for disciplinary reasons is an exception.Start Jaiden Glover, give Ruben Prey 18-20 mins. Rest Kadary. No injuries. Win by 25. Get on a plane to Omaha.
The change in startling line up would be more to give Kadary and his tendinitis more time to heal, even though RIck didn't seem concerned post PC game. It's also the last game to potentially get an extended look at Glover, Prey in "less than meaningful" games where you can play your non starters ample minutes.I don’t like the idea of changing starting line ups unless a player is doing very poorly. I remain a proponent of still trying to get Prey and Glover involved with decent if not significant time in BE play. Imo, that could provide some needed outside shooting in spots in Glover’s case and some smarts and modest ball movement, size on Prey’s part caddying for Zuby. Of course you want a tight rotation, but issues arise like foul trouble, continued perimeter struggles and injuries, so why not.The change in startling line up would be more to give Kadary and his tendinitis more time to heal, even though RIck didn't seem concerned post PC game. Agree with getting more experience for our bench Dave. At this point in time I believe we have the potential to have a team with depth but much will depend on the development of Glover and Prey especially with Dunlap not doing as well as hoped and now injured. Since RJ can play a guard spot, our depth at guard seems solid but that 3/4 spot must be developed. The change in startling line up would be more to give Kadary and his tendinitis more time to heal, even though RIck didn't seem concerned post PC game. Maybe the coach could explain to the players why they are or are not starting. Maybe, having played organized basketball for much of their lives, they could understand the concept of playing for the name on the back. Maybe, they have higher basketball IQs/IQs than we do, and if we can understand how it could be beneficial, they can. I think they know the difference between playing Marquette and playing Delaware.I don’t like the idea of changing starting line ups unless a player is doing very poorly. I like what I’ve seen from Glover compared to Sim and Brady at this point last year. Glover is ready to contribute.I remain a proponent of still trying to get Prey and Glover involved with decent if not significant time in BE play. Good breather and a chance to get quality minutes for Prey, Glover etc. I hope...A worthless game. This should be the last time we ever schedule a cupcake at this point in the season. This is mike anderson type stuff here.
I am 100% sure this is no big deal and that Pitino explains it. Hell, fans know what is going on why wouldn't the players?Maybe the coach could explain to the players why they are or are not starting. I don’t care who you play, first order of business is make sure you win the game. Game play dictates what more can be done regarding playing time.I don’t think it’s about players getting upset or not understanding, I think it’s a chemistry and consistency thing. Agree with silly. Play the young guys extended minutes but don’t throw randomness into the starting lineup unnecessarily.
Don’t disagree but in the world of NIL and pampered players, egos come into it. And while some players are mature enough to handle it, as many may not be. If I have a great player and randomly decide to bring him off the bench, I don’t want him to lose confidence in himself or let him think I’m still not high on him. And while players may say…. It’s cool, no problem, that may just be a facade.I am 100% sure this is no big deal and that Pitino explains it. Hell, fans know what is going on why wouldn't the players?
I miss LJI like the fact that the lineups are matcup based. Like against Depaul, when he started the 3 guards to get an up-tempo game going, then brought LJ off the bench to keep it going. He knew Depaul's guards would not be able to keep pace.
Of course, given most of our first halves this year, you can argue that the strategy is not working, but in general, I still like it.
I meant RJ, obviously.I miss LJ
