Ty Grant right behind Smith
When I read your comment, i thought you had to be kidding that Ty was the second fastest Johnny behind Smitty--THEN I saw the picture.

For Deivon to stick his shot has to get a lot better. Guys his size who stick in the NBA (think Van Fleet) are phenomenal 3 point shooters.I'll say this about Deivon, above the obvious lightning speed and skywalking: I don’t remember him getting beat when he got caught on a switch guarding a center in the post with little help.
Rick is obviously selling his kids, but he wasn't wrong about Jenkins. Smith can do things that most humans can't at any height. Must improve his shot, and be able use his speed to offset lack of height.
I hope he sticks somewhere in the league.
I agree his shot has to improve, but also quote Charles Barkley, who says "Basketball is a game that rewards many talents".For Deivon to stick his shot has to get a lot better. Guys his size who stick in the NBA (think Van Fleet) are phenomenal 3 point shooters.
NBA was a completely different game before the advent of the three point shot. Yes, in those days non shooter guards like Dean the Dream and K.C. Jones could survive and even thrive. Way harder to do so today..I agree his shot has to improve, but also quote Charles Barkley, who says "Basketball is a game that rewards many talents".
Smith has physical skills few people of any height have. We saw the best of him before the injury, whhich was radically better than how he gutted through the season after. He was a game changer talent before. I'd like to see him at 100% vs. NBA talent.
We rarely speak about him here but Dean Meminger at 6'1 was not a particularly good shooter but was a good rebounder and defender and an important piece of the Knick second championship team.
